The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Presents FRENCH REVERIES & PASSIONS FESTIVAL, 5/3-24

Guest conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in three weeks of programs that focus on symphonic and operatic repertoire by Ravel, Debussy and Messiaen, as part of the French Reveries & Passions festival, which begins May 3. In addition to three CSO programs, the three-week festival also includes recitals by two young French pianists, an evening of jazz by French artists, chamber music performed by CSO musicians and the CSO's Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant Yo-Yo Ma, a performance by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and a public discussion between the CSO's Creative Director of Beyond The Score® Gerard McBurney and the Art Institute of Chicago's David and Mary Winton Green curator and Impressionist expert Gloria Groom.
Writers Set for BRITISH MUSICAL FUTURES - A NIGHT OF NEW WRITING, Hosted by Stiles & Drewe

After a huge volume of submissions and a lengthy selection process, the writers who will be showcased at British Musical Futures have been chosen. They are Stephanie Amies & Teddy Clements, Nick Barstow, Tim Connor, Ben Frost & Richard Hough, Tim Gilvin and John Kristian. The evening will be hosted by award-winning writing partnership George Stiles and Anthony Drewe and will take place on 19th April 2015 at the St James Studio. The cast for the concert will feature a number of West End stars, led by Emma Williams and Aaron Sidwell.

Legendary storyteller Scheherazade's 1001 Nights comes to life, weaving her Arabian tales into one exotic adventure set in raucous bazaars, domed palaces, and bandit desert caverns-all told through the circus arts and more than a little mystical magic.

The Nether is now in playing at the Duke of York's Theatre. Directed by Jeremy Herrin,Jennifer Haley's critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning play is booking for 12 weeks only to 25 April 2015.
David Calder (Doyle) joins original cast members Amanda Hale (Morris), Ivanno Jeremiah (Woodnut) and Stanley Townsend (Sims) who are joined by Jaime Adler, Zoe Brough, Perdie Hibbins and Isabella Pappas who alternate the role of Iris. Set designs are by Es Devlin, with costume designs by Christina Cunningham, lighting by Paul Pyant, compositions by Nick Powell, sound by Ian Dickinson and video design by Luke Halls.

The Nether will host post-show Q&A talks during the play's West End run at the Duke of York's Theatre. With members of the creative team, as well as further guests from the worlds of theatre, the media, gaming and technology industries, there will be 6 Q&A talks after selected performances of the play. The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association presents The Big Picture: Hitchcock!, a thrilling tribute to the groundbreaking films of Alfred Hitchcock, at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 7:30 PM. Hosted by Academy award-winning actress Eva Marie Saint (On the Waterfront, North by Northwest), the evening will feature mesmerizing, haunting and psychologically gripping scores by Bernard Herrmann, Dimitri Tiomkin, Alfred Newman, Franz Waxman, Miklos Rozsa and more. Iconic scenes from such Hitchcock classics as Vertigo, Psycho, Dial M for Murder, Rebecca, Spellbound, North by Northwest and more will be projected in HD on the Hollywood Bowl's big screens while the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by David Newman, performs selections from the films' magnificent scores.

Douglas Rintoul returns to the Unicorn to direct Sara Kestelman in Tove Jansson's beautifully crafted, The Summer Book, in an adaptation by Jemma Kennedy. This year marks the centenary of Jansson's birth and this unique story captures much of the writer's own experience of her youth. The show runs today 7 - Sun 29 June 2014 with press night set for Thu 12 June at 7.30PM in the Unicorn's Clore Theatre.
