Perspectives Ensemble to Present DARK EYES/NEW EYES: A CELEBRATION OF ARMENIAN MUSIC


Perspectives Ensemble, in cooperation with the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, presents Dark Eyes/New Eyes: A Celebration of Armenian Music on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 7pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Chapel of St. James, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street. The performance will feature Zulal, a vocal trio composed of Teni Apelian, Anaïs Alexandra Tekerian, and Yeraz Markarian, and Perspectives Ensemble members, including flutist and Artistic Director Sato Moughalian, harpist Stacey Shames, and percussionist John Hadfield. Admission is free and running time is 70 minutes, no intermission.

American Modern Recordings Presents AUREOLE �" EMBRACING THE WIND


Auréole – flutist Laura Gilbert, violist Mary Hammann, and harpist Stacey Shames – is considered by many the world's pre-eminent flute, viola, and harp ensemble, having commissioned and premiered more works for their instrumentation than any other such trio in the world. Embracing the Wind, a new disc of works written between 1978 and 2000 by Israeli composers Paul Ben-Haim and Lior Navok and Americans Ian Krouse and Robert Paterson, is the group's 15th recording, and its first on the American Modern Recordings label. It is the 20th AMR release.

The 2016-17 season is an exceptional year for Robert Paterson, the New York-based composer whose music has been praised for its elegance, wit, rhythmic vitality, and wonderful sense of color that 'often seems to shimmer.' He will have the first evening-length, fully-staged opera production of his career: Three Way, a trio of comic operas with libretto by David Cote 'about craving and connection,' co-produced by Nashville Opera and American Opera Projects, will have its world premiere in Nashville and its New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Sherman Chamber Ensemble Concerts to Include Tribute to Sandy Hook Victims, 4/26-27


The Sherman Chamber Ensemble is honored to announce that its annual spring program will feature "Dawn," a work created by the talented young composer Paul Frucht in tribute to slain Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochsprung. Performances will take place at the Jewish Community Center in Sherman on Saturday, April 26 at 8:00 PM and on Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 PM at the Brookfield Library. Also on the program will be works for flute, harp, clarinet, violin and cello by J.S. Bach, Handel, Muczynski, Wourinen and David Brandenburg, along with selections from the American Songbook.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) today announced its programs for the 2014-15 concert season, conductor Jacques Lacombe's fifth year as the Orchestra's Music Director. Fulfilling its mission as a statewide orchestra, the NJSO brings subscription programs to venues in Newark, New Brunswick, Princeton, Morristown, Red Bank and Englewood, with 14 weeks of subscription classical programs, four pops programs and three family concerts, as well as several special concerts.

On Sunday, October 2, 4pm and 7:30pm, American Opera Projects will present the world premiere of Model Love, a humorous staged song-cycle about contemporary relationships with jazz and rock elements by composer J. David Jackson based on texts by British comedian Henry Normal, and the one-act opera monodrama Nora, In the Great Outdoors, music by Daniel Felsenfeld and libretto by Will Eno, that continues the final scene of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House moments after Nora abandons her family.
