The producers of the revival of WEST SIDE STORY announced today that Broadway newcomer Sarah Amengual will be Broadway's 'Maria' beginning Tuesday, September 21, 2010. 2009 Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione will play her final performance as 'Maria' on Sunday, September 19, 2010. Ms. Amengual follows in this production's tradition of brining fresh new talent to the role of 'Maria.'

On Thursday, June 3, from 1:30 - 2PM at the Richard Rodgers Theater (226 W. 46th St, New York, NY), Latino cast members from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musicals WEST SIDE STORY and IN THE HEIGHTS joined the American Heart Association for 'The Heartbeat of Broadway,' a special event to learn the new Hands-OnlyTM CPR during National CPR Awareness Week 2010. The new Broadway cast album of 'West Side Story' has picked up the 2010 Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. The announcement was made during the Grammy Awards' pre-telecast ceremony held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday, January 31. The creative team behind the 'West Side Story' new Broadway cast album is Leonard Bernstein, composer; Stephen Sondheim, lyricist. David Caddick & David Lai produced the album which was released by Masterworks Broadway.
