Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment to Launch New Theatre in Xi'an China

Representatives from Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment (NWE) and Shaanxi Qinhuang Grand Theatre Performing Arts Co., Ltd came together this afternoon at The Minskoff Theatre on Broadway, to announce a new world-class, state-of-the-art theatre and a new spectacular entertainment, located in Xi'an China adjacent to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses exhibition, one of the world's most popular travel destinations.
Robert Nederlander Jr. & Richard Eisenberg Join Usdan Center's Board of Trustees

Robert Nederlander, Jr., a third generation member of the Nederlander theater dynasty, and Richard Eisenberg, a prominent Long Island attorney and arts philanthropist, have joined the Board of Trustees of Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the renowned Long Island not-for-profit summer arts day camp. Usdan Center (www.usdan.com), now in its 46th season, has introduced the arts to more than 60,000 children ages 6 to 18, and counts among its alumni Natalie Portman, Jane Monheit, Mariah Carey, Olivia Thirlby, Seth Rudetsky, Jackie Hoffman, Lisa Gay Hamiltonand members of major music and dance ensembles.

Viagara Falls, a new comedy by Lou Cutell and Joao Machado, opened this week at the Little Shubert Theatre. Presented by Stanley Browne, John Finocchio and SJ Productions, Inc., Viagara Falls features a trio of TV, stage and film veterans: Bernie Kopell ('The Love Boat'), Lou Cutell (original Broadway production of Little Me) and Teresa Ganzel ('The Tonight Show,' 'Teachers Only'). Nederlander Worldwide Productions and The Eastern Shanghai Cultural Film and Television Group have partnered to present the China on Broadway production of 'Soul of Shaolin,' a new Chinese martial arts spectacle. The production began previews on Tuesday, January 13 and opened on Thursday, January 15 at Broadway's Marquis Theatre. BroadwayWorld's cameras captured the high flying opening night celebration.
'Soul of Shaolin' will play a limited engagement of 24 performances in celebration of the Lunar New Year* - the year of the Ox. Direct from appearances in Sydney, Australia; Macau, People's Republic of China; and at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, comes a theatrical event that is unparalleled on Broadway. 'Soul of Shaolin' tells the story of a boy named Hui Guang who is separated from his mother by war. Hui Guang is found and taken in by the legendary monks of the Shaolin temple and raised among them. As he becomes a man, Hui Gang becomes an accomplished master of Shaolin Kung Fu and embarks on a spectacular journey of self-discovery.
'Soul of Shaolin' marks the first time a production from the People's Republic of China has appeared on Broadway.
