Interview: Bill Berloni Helps Shelter Dogs Become Stars of the Stage in ANNIE at Broadway San Diego


Bill Berloni, the animal trainer to Broadway and beyond and who helped train the original Sandy talks about finding and training the dogs for performances, and their connection with the human cast. Playing at the San Diego Civic Theatre through Broadway San Diego, Annie is running from December 27th through January 1st.

Theater for the New City Stages World Premiere of SINGIN' IN THE E.R.


Sometimes a trip to the Emergency Room is so awful that it's just made for Theater of the Ridiculous.  That's the premise of 'Singin' in the E.R.,' the newest musical by Ruby Lynn Reyner, a star of John Vaccarro's Playhouse of the Ridiculous who has been called a female Jerry Lewis.

American Renaissance Theater Company will present WinterWorks 2016: A Festival of New One Act Plays, three programs of intimate new plays in The Shop @Cap 21 from January 5 thru 18. The Festival offers eleven works running in rep that, each in its own way, deal with life's beginnings and endings and how they transform us.

TWO BY TAVEL to Play Theater for the New City, 11/28-12/14


As a tribute to the memory of director Harvey Tavel, who originated the Theater of the Ridiculous with his brother, the playwright Ronald Tavel, Theater for the New City will present 'Two by Tavel,' a double-header of 'Kitchenette' and 'Life of Juanita Castro,' directed by Norman Glick, November 28 to December 14. These two ridiculous masterpieces, originally drafted as scenarios for Andy Warhol's Film Factory, found their way to the stage in 1965 when Warhol suggested that Ronald Tavel try them out as theater. The director Ronald chose was his younger brother, Harvey.

Cape's Own Spirit of America Winter Percussion Ensemble Advances to Finals in WGI World Championships


Spirit of America Winter Percussion Ensemble placed 5th out of 28 groups in their division, "Independent Open," in the WinterGuard International (WGI) "Sport of the Arts" Percussion World Championships prelimsFriday evening, April 11. They have advanced to FINALS, performing today (Saturday, April 12) at 1:35 pm at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio.
