Christopher Wheeldon is one of the most prolific choreographers and outstanding directors in the world today. An OBE and Tony Award-winner for the 2015 Broadway production of An American in Paris (which he also directed), Wheeldon is the director and choreographer of the new musical MJ The Musical, which opened on Broadway February 1. 

Hosted by Cirque du Soleil in collaboration with The Estate of Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson ONE celebrated the “King of Pop's” birthday with a weekend filled with events and special appearances by Jamie King, Kenny Ortega, Rich and Tone Talauega.

This Friday, August 7th, fans are able to tune in for an exclusive free SummerStageStudio: Digital dance workshop, presented by Disney. The event will kick off live at 2:00PM EST on SummerStage YouTube, Facebook page and Twitch Channel with Brooklyn born and Atlanta-based dancer, actor, choreographer and movement coach Marvelous. 

In tribute to the greatest entertainer of all time, the Estate of Michael Jackson and Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil just wrapped a three-day birthday extravaganza for the King of Pop to celebrate what would have been his 58th birthday. Hosted at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas August 27 - 29, the fourth annual birthday celebration delighted guests throughout the weekend, featuring unforgettable activities, coveted prizes and more. Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil at Mandalay Bay will offer Sunday matinee performances at 4:30pm beginning June 29 through the remainder of the year. Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre was originally set to present a re-imagined concert version of Lerner and Loewe's Tony Award-winning musical GIGI this May, but the company has been forced to cancel the production due to internal scheduling conflicts. The musical has been announced for a Broadway opening in 2015.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino President and Chief Operating Officer, Chuck Bowling, Cirque du Soleil President and CEO, Daniel Lamarre and Estate of Michael Jackson Co-Executor, John Branca confirmed the venue for a permanent Michael Jackson production at Mandalay Bay and announced new aspects of the creative relationship in a press conference held today at the resort. Production has begun to evaluate the transformation of the resort's theater and identification of the creative team for the show, which is slated to open in the spring of 2013.
