The Academy of American Poets has announced that thirteen poets who serve as poets laureate of states, cities, and counties across the U.S. will receive a combined $1,050,000 in recognition of their literary merit and to support civic programs, which will take place over the next twelve months.

In what is believed to be one of the largest awards made to support poetry in the United States by a philanthropic institution, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has made two grants to the Academy of American Poets totaling $2.2 million. The funds will enable the work of several poets serving in civic Poets Laureate positions, and of more than 20 poetry organizations who comprise a national Poetry Coalition.

A cast of familiar faces return to the stage in an Edinburgh International Festival revival of the 2016 critically acclaimed Oresteia: This Restless House which will also play at the Citizens Theatre this autumn.

The Citizens Theatre returns to the Edinburgh International Festival with Oresteia: This Restless House, a powerful reimagining of Aeschylus' The Oresteia by Zinnie Harris, directed by Dominic Hill.

Due to the injury of a cast member, Citizens Theatre's preview performances of THIS RESTLESS HOUSE Part 1: Agamemnon's Return on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April have unfortunately had to be cancelled.

The Citizens Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland are presenting This Restless House a highly-ambitious trilogy of new plays by Zinnie Harris based on Aeschylus' The Oresteia at the Citizens Theatre from 15 April 2016. Citizens Theatre Artistic Director Dominic Hill directs this exhilarating theatrical event and contemporary take on an epic Greek tragedy which will be presented in two instalments on alternate evenings and in full on Saturdays until 14 May 2016.

BRAVE NEW WORLD, widely considered to be one of the finest and most prophetic dystopian novels of the twentieth century, bursts into life on stage in an adaptation by award-winning playwright Dawn King, directed by James Dacre and designed by Naomi Dawson, with an original new music by the ground breaking British band These New Puritans. Further casting has been announced for Brave New World, a co-production by Royal & Derngate, Northampton and Touring Consortium Theatre Company, with Abigail McKern, William Postlethwaite,Gruffudd Glyn, Olivia Morgan and Scott Karim joining the previously announced Sophie Ward in the ensemble cast, and Frantic Assembly's Eddie Kay joining the creative team for this world premiere production. Aldous Huxley's ground-breaking novel, newly adapted for the stage by Dawn King with original music by These New Puritans, is opening in Northampton this September before a major national tour.

Ron Cook (Mr Selfridge, Henry V, King Lear, Hot Fuzz) as Sir Charles Gurney, Kathryn Drysdale (Suspects, Love's Labour's Lost, Tripping Over, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) as Grace Shelley, Joshua McGuire (Privacy, Posh, About Time, Mr Turner) as Dinsdale Gurney and Anthony O'Donnell (The Captain of Kopenick, Skyfall, Matchpoint) as Daniel Tucker, join BAFTA winning James McAvoy, as Jack, the 14th Earl of Gurney, in the first West End revival of Peter Barnes' satirical comedy, The Ruling Class, directed by Jamie Lloyd, Artistic Director of Trafalgar Transformed. Claire Foy (White Heat, Little Dorrit, The Promise) will play Lady Macbeth, alongside the previously announced BAFTA winning and Golden Globe nominated actor James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, X-Men) as Macbeth. Joining them, to complete the cast, are Jamie Ballard (Macduff), Graeme Dalling (Donalbain), Lisa Gardner (Witch), Kevin Guthrie (Lennox), Richard Hansell (Ross), Forbes Masson (Banquo), Allison McKenzie (Witch), Olivia Morgan (Witch), Catherine Murray (Caithness), Callum O'Neill (Angus), Mark Quartley (Malcolm) and Hugh Ross (Duncan/Doctor).
