The Hollywood Museum has announced its 2022 salute to the LGBTQ+ community's contributions to the entertainment industry, it will once again present its ninth (due to the pandemic) annual 'Real to Reel: Portrayals and Perceptions of LGBTQ+ in Hollywood” exhibit in partnership with Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell (CD-13).

The Blank Theatre Now Accepting Submissions For 30th Anniversary Young Playwrights Festival


The Blank Theatre is now seeking submissions from playwrights 19 years of age and younger for its 30th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. Submissions must be made online or postmarked by March 15, 2022.

WarnerMedia Supports Fountain Theatre's Community-Building 'Walking The Beat' Program

East West Players to Be Honored By City Leaders For Pride Month


East West Players, the nation's largest producer of Asian American theatrical works, along with EWP Producing Artistic Director Snehal Desai, will be honored by city leaders on Wednesday, June 30th at 3:30pm at a LA CityView Channel 35 program, broadcast live as part of the virtual celebrations for the annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Heritage Month, commonly known as “Pride Month,” in the City of Los Angeles.

The City of Los Angeles, Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, and Los Angeles Parks Foundation have announced an ambitious community initiative to restore and sustain the historic olive grove of Barnsdall Art Park in East Hollywood. The world- renowned 11.5-acre park and cultural destination includes Hollyhock House, created by Frank Lloyd Wright for Aline Barnsdall, which is Los Angeles's only UNESCO World Heritage Site.

City Of Los Angeles Department Of Cultural Affairs Launches Online Archive For Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House


The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), with support from the California Arts Council, announces the Hollyhock House Digital Archive. The archive, which is free and open to the public, encompasses over 500 works that include original drawings, blueprints, and ephemera, which date from 1918 through the early 21st century. The DCA Hollyhock House Archive is available for viewing online at: http://hollyhockhousearchive.org/.

Submissions Are Now Being Accepted For The Blank Theatre's 28th Annual Young Playwrights' Festival


The Blank Theatre in partnership with LA City College Theatre Academy is now seeking submissions nationwide from playwrights 19 years of age and younger for the 28th Annual Young Playwrights Festival. Submissions must be made online or postmarked by March 15, 2020. The winning plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in June of this year at LA City College's Caminito Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The Blank Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival is a nationwide competition that produces the work of 12 young writers each year. Since 1993, the festival has produced 332 plays by playwrights 19 and younger from 34 states.

Two L.A. Theaters To Host 'Mueller Report Read-A-Thons' In July


Two venerable Los Angeles intimate theaters will each host a Mueller Report Read-A-Thon, offering Angelenos the opportunity to hear the Mueller Report read aloud, in its entirety, on either side of the City. The Fountain Theatre in East Hollywood will host a single, 15-hour event on Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to midnight. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West L.A. will hold a separate marathon reading, breaking it up into two 8-hour sessions on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, each from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission to both Read-A-thons is free and open to the public.

Celebrated Tony, Emmy and Grammy nominated producer of five-time Tony Award-nominated ROCK OF AGES Broadway show Matthew Weaver announced today that the production will return to its LA roots -- where it first started in 2005 at King King on Hollywood Boulevard -- with the opening of ROCK OF AGES Hollywood this September.

Lily Tomlin, upon accepting her award, remarked 'My partner Jane and I are honored and want to thank you for this award. It is amazing to see this whole outpouring for the LGBT community. Jane, couldnt be here tonight, but asked that I share her remarks 'We love the thought of being called Trail-Blazers. It makes us feel current and something out of Marvel Comics.'  Neither of us has a good sense of direction, so we thought being called trail-blazers implies that we somehow new where we were going. So thank you for thinking of us as trail-blazers, rather than as museum pieces.  Of course, there were times, Im afraid, we got lost on that trail and were more bewildered than blazing.  We are still blazing, but we have had to cool down a bit. After all, we need to take care not to add to global warming.'

Hollywood Fringe Fest Celebrates Ten Years


Tickets are now on sale for the 10th Annual Hollywood Fringe Festival, taking place June 13th - 30th, with previews June 6th - June 11th. L.A.'s largest celebration of the performing arts continues to grow with nearly 400 shows registered and almost 2,000 performances throughout the festival.
