Blue Curtain regretfully announced that Eddie Palmieri’s appearance on Saturday, July 16 has been cancelled due to a family emergency.  

Blue Curtain, a beloved Princeton summer tradition, returns to the Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater (Route 206 and Mountain Ave) with two FREE concert in July:  The Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra on July 16 and the Ali Ryerson/Peter Levin Quintet on July 30.  Both concerts begin at 7:30 PM.

Mark Harvey and Peter H. Bloom will celebrate the release of their powerful album A Rite for All Souls with a livestream event on Sunday, August 9 at 7 p.m. EDT. Veteran jazz writer Bob Blumenthal will emcee the discussion, which features interviews with Harvey and Bloom, as well as streaming excerpts from the CD. Free and open to the public.

Mack Avenue Records is excited to share Julian Lage's new video ahead of his soon-to-be-released album, Love Hurts, out February 22. Keyboardist-arranger-composer Pete Levin's ninth solo release, M bius, was recorded live in the studio in two days, capturing the 'no boundaries' spirit of Gil Evans. The music explores textural grooves ranging from straight-ahead bop to funk, world-beat, and the experimental. On the heels of her exciting recent performances at Brooklyn's Shape Shifter Lab and Manhattan's Metropolitan Room, powerhouse vocalist Sari Schorr will next appear at The Cutting Room (44 E. 32nd Street, NYC) on Thursday, July 31 at 7 pm. Supporting Schorr will be her all-star band The Engine Room, featuring Rob Paparozzi on harmonica and vocals, Pete Levin on keyboards, Jerry Marotta on drums, John Cariddi on guitar, and Sue Williams on bass. With a distinctive sound and a 5-octave range that draws from her roots in blues, rock and jazz, Schorr will debut a selection of explosive songs from her upcoming CD. The Cutting Room show will also feature drumming and recording legend Bernard 'Pretty' Purdie, who with his indelible sound will revisit some classic moments in funk drumming history, while also offering up some fat new grooves on songs written by Schorr.

For the last decade, Bay Area trumpeter/composer Ian Carey has been developing his singular, post-bop-inflected music with a stable quintet of formidable improvisers, documented in the CDs 'Sink/Swim' (2005) and 'Contextualizin' (2010). In recent years Carey has wanted to explore more complex writing, and move further away from head-solo-head conventions.
