Luna Stage announces that as of Tuesday evening, October 27, its entire Voting Writes Project will be available online, open to the public and free of charge.

Luna Stage's ambitious and timely Voting Writes Project continues this month with world premiere plays, films, a concept album, and a costume party. Luna commissioned these myriad interactive events to inspire civic engagement in the November 2020 election. All events are free and open to the public via interactive livestream on Luna Stage's Facebook and YouTube. Previous performances can be viewed on Luna's website and IGTV.

Luna Stage debuts its ambitious, two-month-long Voting Writes Project, a series of interdisciplinary performance events celebrating civic participation. This multimedia experience celebrates democratic participation in advance of the November 2020 election. 'Nightcap Riot: Mombucha' encompasses a concert, beverage tasting/'brewtorial,' and full theatrical production of the JIm Knable's world-premiere adapatation of George Bernard Shaw's 'The Man of Destiny' titled 'Destiny and the Little Man,' directed by Bruce Levitt. Only 50 people per night are allowed admission to this experience, which runs from January 15th - February 14th, 2016 over 16 performances. 15 different bands, 5 comedians, magicians, a mixologist from Union Square Hospitality and a kombucha brewer make up the balance of the greater Nightcap Riot: Mombucha cast. 

THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS, a play by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten brings hilarity to the stage when the feisty females of Eden Falls decide to shake up their lives in an abandoned church-turned day spa where they gather every Friday afternoon. Auditions for the comedy are scheduled for Dec 13th and 14th.

The Exchange today announced the artists and companies who will participate in its 2015 Orchard Project summer residency program. Twenty-two artists and ensembles (listed below) were selected from a competitive field of nearly 500 applicants to develop their big, new ideas at the Orchard Project. This will be the eighth summer - and the first summer in Saratoga Springs, NY - for the Orchard Project, a laboratory program where theatre artists and companies come to innovate, develop, and refine new shows. Past productions developed at the Orchard Project have gone on to be performed around the globe for over 500,000 people and to win awards from TONYs to Obies to Oliviers.

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts awarded the 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship grants totaling $182,600 to 22 New Jersey artists selected from more than 300 applicants in the categories of crafts, sculpture, photography, playwriting and poetry. Weiss, Managing Director), now in its 10th season, will present the New York premiere of Linda Escalera Baggs' award-winning play 'SILENT HEROES,' inspired by a true story, and directed by Rosemary Andress. 'SILENT HEROES' will be presented at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios, 244 West 54th Street, 12th floor (bet. 8th and 9th Aves). Performances will begin on January 8, and the official opening performance was Sunday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. Performances will run through Saturday, January 24. Set shortly after the end of the Vietnam War, the wives of six Marine Corps aviators have gathered in the night after hearing that one of the base's jet fighters has crashed. The Corps has offered no comfort or information, but the women know that one of their husbands isn't coming home. 'SILENT HEROES' deals with women's rights, race relations, family, war and peace, and the tenuous social structure that enables military wives to cope with the constant fear that their husbands' lives, and their futures, could end suddenly. It won Best Play at FutureFest (Dayton, OH), at the Firehouse Theatre Festival of New American Plays (Richmond, VA), and at the Pittsburgh New Play Festival. TheaterMania's Peter Filichia was one of the judges at FutureFest and wrote this in his column: 'While I was watching Linda Escalera Bagg's Silent Heroes, I thought 'Hmm...this playwright has not only written six fat parts for women but also at least two parts that could very well win Tony Awards for the actresses playing them.' 'SILENT HEROES' was also honored with the Source Literary Prize in Washington, D.C. Linda Escalera Baggs is a Virginia-based playwright whose plays have been produced across the U.S.A. In addition to her award-winning Silent Heroes her full length plays include Harps & Harmonicas and Word War, and her one-acts and short plays include: Parting Words, The August Jinx, Welcome to Florida, Who's Margaret, and Dress Blues. Baggs is the daughter of a Marine colonel.

Submissions are now being accepted by The Living Room for Artists for the sixth annual Summer Play Festival (SPF), which will be presented at The Public Theater in New York City for a second year, July 7 through August 2, 2009.
