Penobscot Theatre Company today announces that after nine and a half years of service as the Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport has resigned so that she can take on an exciting new creative opportunity that will be announced in the near future. She will depart on May 31st.

The 'tale as old as time' of 'Beauty and the Beast' is one that has delighted young and old for generations including patrons of The Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor. This family-friendly musical runs from December 7th - 30th. Directed by Ethan Paulini, this presentation of Disney's classic doesn't disappoint. The show was such a hit that two additional performances were added for both December 27th and 30th.

Previously available to subscribers only, tickets to Penobscot Theatre Company's highly anticipated holiday production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, will go on sale to the general public, October 2. 'Sold-out performances are all but certain, so we urge folks to act soon. It's going to be glorious,' says Producing Artistic Director, Bari Newport.

Penobscot Theatre Company stages the second production of Papermaker, by acclaimed Maine author Monica Wood (The One-in-a-Million Boy, We Were the Kennedys). Penobscot Theatre Company is now registering adults and older teens for a new class on improvisational technique and performance. Classes begin January 7, 2015, and will run every Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm through February 25. Director of Education Amy Roeder designed the program for beginners and those who have some experience with improvisation, building on the company's earlier adult improv offerings and recognizing burgeoning interest in the community.
