Producers Michael Jackowitz of Witzend Productions, David Bryant and Michael Alden have announced that the new John Caird, Paul Gordon Christmas musical ESTELLA SCROOGE, A Christmas Carol With A Twist, takes to the stage this week....one actor at a time.

Ranking up there with MEDEA and OEDIPUS REX, Eugene O'Neill's family tragedy LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT would most likely make any playgoer's list of inappropriate classics to revive on Mother's Day weekend.

For those who didn't have the opportunity to meet the cast of fourteen in East Lynne Theater Company's 'Ah, Wilderness!' at the after-show party at The Merion Inn, another chance is to be had on Friday, August 4 at an after-show Q&A.  It's a wonderful opportunity for patrons to ask the actors and  director such questions as how characters are created, what goes into selecting a season of plays, and where they have previously worked.  Actors in this production have a variety of backgrounds, including performing in regional theater, film and on Broadway, and are ages 12 on up.

The Chatham Drama Guild, Chatham's own community theater group which brings a variety of entertaining performances to its audiences each year, presents Gilbert and Sullivan in Chatham: a musical revue dedicated to bringing forth an appreciation (or perhaps an even greater one depending on how familiar you are with the pair's works) of Gilbert and Sullivan musicals well and lesser-known alike. Actors at the Guild, many of whose familiar faces appear once again this time around, have brought many such past revues to life, giving audiences the chance to enjoy a pleasant, entertaining night out while giving the chance to become privy to different music and composers that may have otherwise gone unacknowledged.

Owing to the popularity of this double bill, Metropolitan Playhouse is adding two performances in the final week of June to the run of O'NEILL (UNEXPECTED).

Renowned British actor/writer/director Steven Berkoff will direct a rare production of Eugene O'Neill's 1922 expressionist play The Hairy Ape, opening May 14 at West L.A.'s Odyssey Theatre.

The Cape Cod Theatre Company, home of the Harwich Junior Theatre, brings a stunning production of Shrek: The Musical to a Cape Cod stage and does an absolutely fine job of making sure audiences will see all the wonder to be found in this show. I am like a broken record when it comes to my praise of this group, but even at the risk of being redundant and sounding like a lovesick theater child will I once again say that CCTC has impressed me from the very beginning and continues to do so.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival opens its outdoor theatre the weekend of June 12-14 with Shakespeare's ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, directed by Bill Rauch; the world-premiere musical by Jeff Whitty with music and lyrics by the Go-Go's, HEAD OVER HEELS, directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar; and Alexandre Dumas's THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, directed by Marcela Lorca. The shows will close the weekend of October 9-11.

NiGHTMARE BOY is the solo outfit from one Barrie-James O'Neill. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, he now resides in Los Angeles, California exploring a variety of artistic passions. His newest venture is into film and he has just released his very first short film entitled SCUMBaG.

Park Avenue Armory has commissioned dance pioneer Reggie (Regg Roc) Gray and visionary director Peter Sellars to create a performance piece that evolves the tradition of flex, the Brooklyn-born street dance. Characterized by sharp, rhythmic contortion, pausing, snapping, gliding, bone-breaking, and animated showmanship, the flex form evolved from the Jamaican bruk-up style popular in the dance halls and reggae clubs of Brooklyn in the 1990s. Opening today, March 25 and marking the first major presentation of the Armory's 2015 artistic season, FLEXN transforms the dance from its individual, combative style to create a collaborative work of social commentary inspired by both personal experience and current events. A series of public discussions and education initiatives complement the presentation.

It has been thirty years since Eugene O'Neill's landmark 'realist' play, Long Days Journey Into Night, was last performed in Adelaide.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night, directed by Christopher Liam Moore, on March 29 in the Thomas Theatre. Preview performances are March 25, 27 and 28.

(The production marks the 23rd collaboration for Sullivan and Fuqua, who have worked together at Rubicon on productions including Hamlet, You Can't Take It With You and Old Wicked Songs.) Other cast members are Rebekah Tripp, Granville Van Dusen, Scott Roberts and Matthew Grondin.

There have been any number of renowned re-imaginings of Shakespeare. But, easily one of the finest to have been conceived is the musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, WEST SIDE STORY. One thing that makes it so special is the way that Leonard Bernstein's dramatic orchestral score meshes so perfectly with Stephen Sondheim's lyrical contributions, and how Arthur Laurent's clever book replaces the feuding families of the original work with rival gangs of different races. And, there no denying the ground-breaking choreography and direction that Jerome Robbins brought to the table. The combination of acrobatics, ballet, and modern dance requires exceptional athleticism. Thankfully, the current production playing the Fox Theatre is an exciting and thoroughly entertaining version that's brought to life by an exuberant and talented cast.
