Old actors play young characters and find new nuances in familiar speeches

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has released new artwork for its forthcoming production of As You Like It, directed by Omar Elerian, which runs in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon between 17 June – 5 August 2023. 

Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Rebecca Stafford Productions have announced an extension for Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution. Audiences can now watch the trial of Leonard Vole at the magnificent London County Hall until 16th April 2023.

A great new cast has just taken to the stage in Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution. Settle in, pay close attention and you’ll soon be wrapped up in trying to work out who’s guilty.

The new cast includes Joshua Glenister as the accused, Leonard Vole, opposite Lauren O’Neil as Romaine. Owen Oakeshott will play Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC. He is joined by Peter Landi as Mr Mayhew, Richard Teverson as Mr Myers QC, and James Hayes as Mr Justice Wainwright.

The seventh cast has been announced for Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution which is now booking until September 2022 at the London County Hall.

Two weeks after announcing Footprints Festival, today Jermyn Street Theatre has unveiled its full programme of 43 shows brought together to celebrate the theatre’s reopening this Summer. Running for three months from May to August this jamboree of live work comprises an exciting combination of familiar faces and new talent.

Now the theatre is able to announce that an archive recording of this sell-out production is available on Digital Theatre until December 31, by special arrangement with the Beckett Foundation.

This March, one of the leading Shakespearean actors of his generation, Michael Pennington, is to play Prospero for the first time in Jermyn Street Theatre's staging of Shakespeare's final work The Tempest.

When even a single play by Samuel Beckett might become a test of endurance for an audience, putting three of them together risks missing the mark. But as Trevor Nunn's superb Beckett Triple Bill at Jermyn Street Theatre confirms, it's a risk worth taking, and the results might be astounding. This potent line-up of three Beckett one-acts about memory and old age allows each play to clarify and enrich the other two, giving rise to an evening that is gloriously bigger than the sum of its parts.

Jermyn Street Theatre kicks off its 2020 season with three of Samuel Beckett's finest short plays. The Beckett Triple Bill will be directed by Trevor Nunn and feature the stellar cast of Niall Buggy, Lisa Dwan, James Hayes and David Threlfall. These works are as funny as they are poignant, as compelling as they are lyrical and, together, they demonstrate Beckett's remarkable range, inventiveness, and wit.

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus "Va, pensiero," from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

Showtime for all productions is 8:30 p.m. with gates opening at 7 p.m.

An outstanding cast has been announced for the return of Opera North's award-winning production of Cole Porter's classic musical comedy, Kiss Me, Kate, opening at Leeds Grand Theatre in May, then touring to the Ravenna Festival, to the London Coliseum for a two-week run in June, and moving to the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh in July.

It's a brave new world for the RSC, collaborating with Intel and Andy Serkis's Imaginarium Studios on a notably high-tech Tempest. But, for all the computer-generated trickery, it's the human experience and rough magic of theatre that really impress in Gregory Doran's production, now playing at the Barbican.
