On February 4th, Baroque music organization Ars Lyrica Houston welcomed guests to the Houston Museum of Natural Science for their 2023 Gala benefiting Ars Lyrica Opera Circle and their 20th anniversary season opera, Handel's Amadigi di Gaula. This spectacular evening honoring Connie Kwan-Wong, Zoe Wong, and Elly Wong, featured a progressive experience culminating with an opera performance among the dinosaurs!

Ars Lyrica Houston's 2023 gala Gems, Charms, and Treasures will take place on Saturday, February 4th at 6:30 pm at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. This black tie event benefits Ars Lyrica Houston Opera Circle and its Baroque opera productions, and will raise vital support for Handel's opera Amadigi di Gaula, slated for May 2024. 

Houston Grand Opera has announced the winners for this year's Concert of Arias, the 34th Annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers, held last evening at the Wortham Theater Center and livestreamed for audiences at home on HGO Digital and HGO's Facebook and YouTube channels.

Houston Grand Opera has announced the three new singers and nine returning artists who will train with the HGO Studio for 2021–22. The HGO Studio provides comprehensive career development to young singers and pianist/coaches who have demonstrated potential to make major contributions to the artform.

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the winners of the 31st annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, which took place in the Cullen Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. This is the third year the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, and the second for livestreaming on YouTube. The livestream was hosted by HGO Studio alumna Andrea Carroll. She is currently performing in The Pearl Fishers as Le la and placed first in the 2012 Concert of Arias. The winners were announced during the second portion of the program.

For the second time, the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, as well as on YouTube for the first time. Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the winners of the 299h annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers that took place on the evening of January 27 at the Wortham Theater Center's Cullen Theater. For the first time, the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, and viewers were able to cast their votes for an Online Viewers' Choice Award. The winner was announced during the second portion of the program, along with the other winners.

It's the end of the road for anthology drama, WICKED CITY.

In tonight's episode of ABC's new anthology drama WICKED CITY, serial killer Kent looks to take his relationship with single mom Betty to the next level, in more ways than one. Recently, I talked with Ed Westwick (GOSSIP GIRL) and Erika Christensen (PARENTHOOD) about the bizarre love story of these obviously damaged individuals.

Very little can shock American TV viewers anymore. From gore to profanity to nudity, we've more or less seen it all since cable became a leader in high quality, ground-breaking programming. While the standards and practices associated with broadcasting over the public airwaves normally hamstring networks, that doesn't mean that they aren't actively looking to push the limits of TV dramas. Next Tuesday at 10/9c, ABC premieres its new anthology series WICKED CITY, which they have actively advertised as "pushing the boundaries of network TV." The show centers on a sexy, serial killing couple in glamourous 1980's Los Angeles, and like everything else in the decade, the sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll are all done to excess.

Adam Rothenberg, who portrays Captain Homer Jackson in the Amazon series RIPPER STREET, will be returning for the show's fourth and fifth seasons after all.
