Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, has announced an encore presentation of “The Secret Garden, The Musical,” presented as part of Chance Theater's Holiday Literature Series. Adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, with book and lyrics by Marsha Norman, and music by Lucy Simon.
The film will also have a gala screening at the Toronto International Film Festival and stars Oscar® nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jon Bernthal, Niecy Nash-Betts, Vera Farmiga, Audra McDonald, Nick Offerman, Blair Underwood, Finn Wittrock, Jasmine Cephas-Jones and Connie Nielsen.
Written, produced, and directed by Academy Award nominee Ava DuVernay, Origin chronicles the remarkable life and work of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson (played by Academy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) as she investigates the genesis of injustice and uncovers a hidden truth that affects us all.
The title refers to the instrument used to capture the piece’s main theme. Fleshed out and supported by dread performances from Mansfield’s urgent bass, Christo Case on synths and keys, Brian Daggett on pounding drums, and horns by Jonathan Lloyd, the production eventually manifested into the righteous machine presented here.
The tracks were released alongside a new short film. Directed by JFC Worldwide (Charlie Placido and J. Lloyd), the short opens with a dance battle soundtracked by “GOOD TIMES,” leading into a mood change as the action shifts to Alberto’s Jazz Bar for “PROBLEMZ” where the dance moves are more laidback. Plus, check out upcoming tour dates!
It's the brainstorm of two great Philadelphians – David Alexander Jenkins and Bill Lloyd – who brought together their organizations – “& We Dine” and the “Loyal Guard” to host the “Welcome Back Ball” at the Union League of Philadelphia.
The track arrives alongside a video, directed by J Lloyd of Jungle and Charlie Di Placido.
We've been compiling showcase videos from college seniors all around the country. Although their performances were cancelled, the show must go on-- virtually!
