The Tank has announced a full slate of programming for its annual PrideFest. Every year in June, The Tank opens its stages to a wide variety of performances and discussions surrounding the topics of sexuality, gender, equality, old battles and new ways of fighting them.

No matter how old we become, our parents are still our parents: from high school to an engagement, to robbing our new apartment, our parents are pillars of love that we never wish to seen torn down. Now, if you're questioning why a couple's parents would collaborate to rob their children's first apartment, you wouldn't be the only ones. There is such an intriguing (and first of its kind that I have seen) backstory as to how four individuals, keen on getting their children out of an unsafe Brooklyn apartment, stage a robbery to expedite the process.

Sixteen is a significant, even a sacred, age and number in our society. It's the age at which sweet sixteens are held for girls, a kind of ritual that marks the passage of time and growing up. Even the alliteration of that occasion represents an image of that age as somehow idyllic. It is, however, also an in-between time for people no longer children and not yet fully adults. Many of the more dangerous aspects of the world start to impinge on existence at that age. It is a bittersweet, crucial and, in many ways, a dramatic time.

The age of sixteen is a delicate one-especially if you're in trouble with the law. "Sixteen," a new drama by Hama Zaman examines the root causes of criminal activity at the age of sixteen, an age where you could be tried as an adult but are far from it. Incorporating spoken word, poetry and multimedia, the play cracks open each offender's story two ways: from inside the subject's mind by direct address monologues, and from the outside analyses and judgments of psychiatric and law enforcement 'professionals.' Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will present the world premiere of "Sixteen" August 26 to September 9, directed by Michael Whitney.

TARAB follows Mena, a single, successful female lawyer, who is married to her career. As her Lebanese mother & family push her to find marriage in hopes of grandchildren, Mena realizes she has been working so hard, she has not noticed how much time has passed.

This summer will see the world premiere of 'Fresh Meat,' at The New York International Fringe Festival: FringeNYC. Written by and Starring Hamza Zaman, this play traces the very real difficulties convicted felons face upon their release and trying to integrate into society.
