Eileen Schauler
Schauler was born in New Jersey in 1928 and throughout her career was admired for her presence on stage, her committed acting, and her emotional and expressive singing. A graduate of the Juilliard School, she made her New York City Opera debut as Katerina Ismaelova in Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mstensk” and would remain a leading singer with the company for 15 years.

Schauler was born in New Jersey in 1928 and throughout her career was admired for her presence on stage, her committed acting, and her emotional and expressive singing. A graduate of the Juilliard School, she made her New York City Opera debut as Katerina Ismaelova in Shostakovich’s “Lady Macbeth of Mstensk” and would remain a leading singer with the company for 15 years. She then went on to work as a teacher and coach at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City for over 25 years.
Her career as a singer also took her to Broadway where she made her debut in the title role of “My Darlin Aida.”
