'Lunar Eclipse,' a new play by Donald Margulies, makes its world premiere at Shakespeare & Company. Directed by James Warwick, the play features Karen Allen and Reed Birney as a long-married couple reflecting on life and time during a lunar eclipse.

The New York Times has reported that Steve Carter, the renowned playwright who emerged from the Black Arts movement and the Negro Ensemble Company, writing about the Black and Caribbean-American experiences, has passed away at age 90. 

IN CIRCLES is a feast for the eyes, even if Gertrude Stein's texts as lyrics seem nonsensical at times. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is reviving the 1968 off-Broadway hit as part of its 50th Anniversary “Circa '69” Season of significant and adventurous plays that premiered around the time of the company's 1969 inception. The run commences on Sept. 14, with renowned director David Schweizer, musical director Kenneth J. Grimes and choreographer Kate Coleman at the helm. Performances will continue through Nov. 10 at the Odyssey Theatre in West L.A.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble has announced "Circa'69!" an 18-month retrospective beginning in June, 2019 that will celebrate its founding, 50 years ago, by artistic director Ron Sossi, who has remained steadily at the helm since the company's first production in 1969.

Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse brings Philip Barry's first Broadway play, 'You and I' to the stage for its first New York revival in 95 years.   The limited run from September 7 to October 7, 2018, will be at the Playhouse home at 220 E 4th Street.

According to a recent interview with American Theatre, longtime theatre reviewer for Newsday, Linda Winer, has resigned. She explains: 'Newspapers have to go in a different direction, and I actually don't want to go in that direction. I hope I'm still going to be able to do reviewing, but I don't know. I'm not hopping to another job, for first time in my life. I don't have a plan. But I want to do more satisfying writing.'

Jobsite closes their 2015-16 season with a timely drama from a modern master of the American theater: Donald Margulies' Time Stands Still plays July 8-31, 2016, in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company.

Playwright Donald Margulies will be honored with the William Inge Distinguished Achievement in the American Theater Award, at the 34th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival in Independence, Kansas, at Independence Community College on April 19, 2015. The Inge Festival is the Official Theatre Festival of the State of Kansas.
