Theatre in Schools Scotland is a new initiative, established to support and develop the provision of theatre in Scotland's schools, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that every child in Scotland receives - at their nursery or school - a minimum of one performing arts production, per year, as a core part of their education.

For the second year, Rover Dramawerks is pleased to partner with the playwrights' group 365 Women a Year to present a festival of plays by women, about women, for everyone. This international playwriting coalition, founded by Jesslynn Eisenberg Chamblee, involves playwrights across the world who have signed on to write one or more plays about extraordinary women in both past and present history. The project's ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness, as well as empower and promote female playwrights, and plant seeds of herstory around the country.

The concept: A high school prom in the first act filled with songs from the 1950's. A 10-year reunion in the 2nd act filled with songs from the 1960's. One set. Four girls. Sounds pretty simple, yes. NOT! As the choreographer for the original production of WONDERETTES, Janet Miller, told me this is a simple concept but '...it is a deceptively difficult show'.

The Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS) announces auditions for its 2011 production, Rodgers and Hammersteins' beloved musical, The King and I, directed by Leslie Ann Rivers, with musical direction by Ken Hardin, and choreography by George Jayne. The King and I will be staged from March 17 to April 16, 2011, at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Auditions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 28 and August 29, at St. Joseph's Cultural Center in Grass Valley. Callbacks will be scheduled shortly thereafter, and dates, times, and venue will be advised.
