Alma Milstead BIO

Alma Milstead, born on July 6, 1904, in Rusk County, Texas, was trained at the Julliard. A soprano, she was well known for her "pant" roles. She played the role of Jack in New York City's Junior Programs Opera Company production of 'Ha?nsel und Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck that was recorded in 1940 (RCA Victor Camden label. " She played the role of Jack in the 1931 Broadway production of "Jack and the Beanstalk," music by Louis Gruenberg and libretto by John Erskine.
Ms. Milstead was featured as the soprano on a recording of Brahm's German Requiem.
She also was recognized by her alma mater, University of Texas.

After her husband was killed at sea during World War ll, she never sang professionally. She and her second husband lived in Delaware Water Gap, PA at the time of her death at 94 years of age.
