Up next in its 2022 season, Oakland Theater Project (OTP) presents the first-ever Bay Area production of the 1989 play The Mojo and the Sayso by Aishah Rahman, a writer, professor and active participant in the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s.

Stage Director George Ferencz (1947-2021), passed away on September 14 following a long illness according to his wife of 35 years, Sally Lesser. For over a half century, Ferencz was a beloved fixture of New York’s Off- and Off-Off-Broadway theatre scenes.

Given the current political climate in this country you have to ask if there is any such thing as a truly honest politician. Today's subject, Nehassaiu deGannes, is currently living her theatre life onstage at Studio Theatre portraying just that type, Rep. Sydney Millsap, in local playwright Sarah Burgess' Kings. The production runs through January 13th in Studio's fourth floor space.

Prolific playwright Dominique Morisseau's SKELETON CREW begins June 5, 2018 as the next Geffen Playhouse production. SKELETON CREW, the final play in Dominique's three-play cycle THE DETROIT PROJECT, focuses on four co-workers of an auto factory about to go under, circa 2008. We had the chance to catch Dominique in between her multi-tasking of writing on her multitude of projects, including Showtime's Shameless and the upcoming AIN'T TOO PROUD scheduled for a Broadway run.

Community College of Baltimore County Academic Theatre presents The Mojo and the Sayso by Aishah Rahman, a moving and lyrical drama about grief and the rituals of healing that a family endures to come together following a tragedy. Performances will be held March 8 - 12 at CCBC Catonsville, Center for the Arts Theatre, 800 S. Rolling Road. The Mojo and the Sayso is being presented as part of thePerforming Arts at CCBC Baltimore Stories program, a yearlong series about Baltimore told through dance, music and theater by artists in diverse genres who live in or have roots in Baltimore.
