Indian Wells Resort Hotel is excited to debut "Broadway's Best" in October, presenting an evening of enchanting entertainment with acclaimed performers Patricia Welch and Terri Olsen, along with musical director and pianist Alex Danson. Together they perform a selection of timeless Broadway show stoppers, solos and duets, while adorning fanciful costumes. The dinner and show will be held in Frank's Place at the resort in an intimate setting. The dinner service begins at 5:00 p.m. with the musical starting at 6:30 p.m.
This new show brings together two stellar performers encompassing a wealth of acting, dancing, singing and musical talent from both on and off Broadway with their vast entertaining experience. Having captivated audiences over the years in their separate endeavors, they combine their talents for a show unlike any other in the greater Palm Springs area.
Having released five albums of her own and boasting over 2,000 performances, Ms. Welch has notably co-starred with the late GRAMMY award-winning and stage veteran Robert Goulet in his show "The Man & His Music." She was also a featured soloist and performed duets with Grant Griffin in Las Vegas in his production, "Magical Night of Music." She was also a featured soloist with Wayne Newton and sang duets with him in his Las Vegas show as well. Welch began her career portraying the role of "Tuptim" on Broadway performing with Yul Brynner in the musical "The King and I," and amongst her numerous accolades she has been heard on major TV networks, including HBO and PBS. Welch had the incredible honor of singing the National Anthem and "America The Beautiful" on two separate occasions for former President Clinton, former President Ford, and General Schwarzkopf. In addition, she performed "United We'll Stand," which she co-wrote with her husband (Adrian DuBarry), in Washington, D.C., at the September 11th, 2002 Memorial.
Terri Olsen
Ms. Olsen studied dance with Bob Banas, Patrick Adiarte and Joe Tremaine and improvisational comedy with the late, Harvey Lembeck. Her first national role was in the HallMark Hall of Fame production, "Stubby Pringle's Christmas" starring Beau Bridges and Kim Hunter, in her role as 'Elizabeth.' She later landed a role in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," touring with the show for two years where she played the role of 'Martha' and understudied the star, Debbie Boone. Olsen transitioned into Broadway shows performing in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Into the Light"(starring Dean Jones), "Starlight Express" and "Jerry's Girls" (starring Chita Rivera, Leslie Uggams and the late Dorothy Loudon). As an accomplished vocalist, Olsen did back-up vocals for Carly Simon and other artists. As a local resident Olsen was a featured performer as the lead singer in The Fabulous Palm Spring Follies.
Performances are scheduled for October 18 and 25; November 1, 15 and 29; December 6 and 27; January 3, 17 and 31; February 28; March 14 and 28; April 4 and 18; and May 2 and 16.
