The Great Canadian Theatre Company will present EAST OF BERLIN, written by Hannah Moscovitch and directed by Joël Beddows, from March 21st through April 8th.

Nominated for a 2009 Governor General's Award, this play was also selected for Vancouver's 2010 Cultural Olympiad. East of Berlin is a smart, challenging and surprisingly funny piece of writing from a playwright Ottawa is proud to call its own.

Rudi’s father was a Nazi doctor. Sarah’s mother was a prisoner at Auschwitz. Both struggle to understand and escape their inheritance. Can they possibly fall in love? And if they do, what happens when the sins of the father are visited upon the son? In this taut and suspenseful tale of redemption, Rudi tries to come to terms with a frightening past that was never his own.
