Surfside Players Presents CATS Jan. 14-30

By:

Surfside Players, Cocoa Beach, is proud to announce our January production of CATS, the immortal musical by Andrew Lloyd-Webber, directed by Rod Savickis and choreographed by Christopher Kirby.

Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years.

Performances of CATS are from January 14-30, 2011 (three weekends), Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 pm, Sundays 2:00 pm. An Opening Night Reception with hors-d'oeuvres will begin on Friday, January 14, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and active military, and $15 for students. Call (321) 783-3127 for reservations.

In addition to these prices, a family of four (two adults, two children) may attend for $60. Special rates of $15 per adult or senior, $12 per student, are available to reservations of 20 or more (reserved through a single point of contact), as well as to participants in our "Dinner and a Show" partnership with Brano's Italian Grill on A1A and St. Lucie: buy one of a selected set of dinners at Brano's and then come to Surfside for the reduced ticket price.

CATS is presented through exclusive arrangement with R & H Theatricals and The Really Useful Theatre Company Limited. http://www.rnh.com/ CATS was first performed at The New London Theatre, London May 11,1981, presented by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Theatre Co. Limited. Originally presented in America by The Shubert Organization, Cameron Mackintosh, The Really Useful Company and David Geffen. Original Broadway production directed by Trevor Nunn, associate directed and choreographed by Gillian Lynne, and designed by John Napier, with orchestration by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

To get to Surfside from the mainland, take 520 or 528 Eastbound to A1A southbound; OR take Pineda Causeway or 192 Eastbound to A1A northbound. Drive into Cocoa Beach, and turn west on Fifth Street South. For more information call (321) 783-3127 or visit www.surfsideplayers.com.
