SQUEAKY WHEEL THEATRE PROJECT is proud to announce its very first New Composers & Works Showcase to be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 7:30pm in Winter Park, FL. Squeaky Wheel Theatre Project's Artistic Director, Elaine Pechacek, has long wanted to create opportunities for up-in-coming and established composers to experiment with new concepts in the realm of musical theater. Elaine, a composer herself, understands that not only is exposure crucial for new writers to succeed, but so is building strong networks and safe environments for creativity to thrive. Elaine hopes that Squeaky Wheel Theatre Project becomes just that for our composers in the Central Florida community.

The New Composers & Works Showcase will be held on SUNDAY, January 18, 2015 at 7:30pm, doors open at 7:15pm. Location: Woman's Club of Winter Park - 419 S. Interlachen Ave. 32789. Tickets are $8.00 online or $10.00 at the door ($1.50 fee for credit cards) Tickets can be purchased at: www.squeakywheeltheatreproject.com

Three composers will be featured in the showcase:

7:30pm Squeaky Wheel introduces newcomer, Michael Babcock, who will be performing some of his very first original pieces. Michael has been involved in theater since childhood and two years ago started teaching himself piano. Michael quickly fell in love with writing music and now finds himself writing whenever he can.

8:00pm Squeaky Wheel introduces Tampa Bay area composer, Blake Conley, with selections from his song cycle: Missed Connections. Joining Blake will be vocalists Autumn Allard, Cameron Kubly, and Justin Martin. Understudies, Blake's musical written with co-writer Craig Sobel, recently premiered in 2014 in the Tampa Bay area. Blake continues to work with Sobel on future endeavors including one that reimagines the way theater is consumed online.

8:30pm Squeaky Wheel introduces selections from Elaine Pechacek's newest musical, THE LADY JULIANA, set to premiere in England with the York New Musical Festival in May, 2015. THE LADY JULIANA is still a work in progress, but Elaine is anxious to get feedback from audiences. Elaine is an established composer in the Central Florida area with several song cycles and musicals to her credit including the internationally produced and award winning musical SEASONS, written with co-writer Katie Hammond.

Squeaky Wheel is currently accepting submissions from composers throughout the Central Florida area for future showcases as well as accepting submissions from composers and playwrights with completed works to be considered for fully staged readings.
