MATILDA THE MUSICAL Comes to Garden Theatre

Roald's Dahl's Matilda the Musical is the first show of Garden Theatre's 2019-2020 season to be announced. The Central Florida premiere of Matilda will run at Garden Theatre during the 2019-2020 season. 2018-2019 Garden Theatre subscribers will have first access to purchase tickets to Matilda and other productions before they are available to the general public. A 2018-2019 three-show subscription starts at $84 and can be purchased at gardentheatre.org.

Roald Dahl's beloved story of an extraordinary young girl comes to life in Matilda the Musical. Unloved by her parents, tormented by Headmistress Trunchbull, and armed with a vivid imagination, five-year-old Matilda finds solace in stacks of library books. With the help of her caring teacher Miss Honey, Matilda's magic appears as she dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.

"I am very excited to produce Matilda here at the Garden," said Artistic Director Rob Winn Anderson "We have such a great pool of young talent in this community. I've loved the show since it originally premiered in London, and can't wait to bring it to the Central Florida community.

Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical features a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The show won five Tony Awards in 2013, including Best Book of a Musical. Other accolades include the 2012 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, the 2013 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Broadway

Musical, and five 2013 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical, Best Lyrics, and Best Book of a Musical.

The remainder of Garden Theatre's 2019-2020 season will be announced on January 18, 2019, during the pre-show of The Legend of Georgia McBride. Guests without tickets to this performance can view a live stream on Garden Theatre's Facebook page, and will receive an email with details about the upcoming season.

Tickets: Tickets for Matilda the Musical will begin at $25. Individual tickets for Garden Theatre's 2019-2020 season will go on sale to the public on May 7, 2019. Current 2018-2019 subscribers may purchase 2019-2020 subscriptions starting January 21, 2019.
