Theatre Winter Haven's multi award-winning production of GOLDA'S BALCONY will be performed at the Manatee Performing Arts Center on May 25 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $19 for adults and $13 for students. Tickets can be reserved at the ticket office by calling 941-748-5875 or online at www.manateeplayers.com.

This 60-minute version of William Gibson's acclaimed drama is a one woman show starring Katrina Ploof. The show won the recent Florida State Theatre Festival and Southeastern Theatre Conference Play Festival, where it won Best Play, Best Actress, Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Lighting Design and Outstanding Costuming. It is soon to compete on the national level at AACTFest 2013, 6/17/2013 to 6/23/2013, in Carmel, Indiana.

GOLDA'S BALCONY follows the life of Golda Meir from Russian immigrant to American schoolteacher to the epicenter of international politics as the fourth Prime Minister of Israel. The play pits Meir against Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger with the possible launch of nuclear weapons against her enemies, unless the U. S. comes to her country's aid.

Golda's balcony overlooks Israel's underground nuclear arms facility. From this bunker, Meir's thoughts range from deeply funny to deeply relevant in a spell binding performance.
