5th Annual IMAGINATION UNCHAINED Concert to Celebrate Juneteenth
Marlo Vashti and Cande Rivers headline the event at Lauderhill Performing Arts Center.
This Juneteenth season, Next Weekend Productions, Inc. and City of Lauderhill will present the 5th Annual “Imagination Unchained” Concert.
Celebrating five years of artistic programming, the event honors 250 years of Black imagination, resilience, and creativity through a multi-sensory experience. The celebration will also recognize recipients of the Patra Baker Technology Scholarship.
This one-night-only Juneteenth celebration will feature a range of artistic performances and presentations, including:
- Marlo Vashti — jazz vocalist, poet, and actress known for intimate performances blending music and spoken word.
- Cande Rivers — vocalist known for tributes to artists including Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, Etta James, and Roberta Flack.
- Alexander Star — Emmy-nominated Hip Hop and R&B artist and creator of the Greater Fort Lauderdale anthem “Laudy Dayo.”
- Tre Henderson — host and vocalist whose work spans corporate and live entertainment events.
- Dionne H.E. Polite — Guyanese-born South Florida artist whose paintings draw from Caribbean culture and everyday life.
A Night of Joy, Freedom & Culture
The “Imagination Unchained” experience combines live music, poetry, visual art, and graffiti artwork celebrating Black history, identity, and culture.
Hosted by the City of Lauderhill and produced by Next Weekend Productions, Inc., the event is sponsored in partnership with BankUnited and iCare, with appearances from on-air personalities from iHeartRadio.
