'The Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre will be presenting "Spider-Man: The Musical...The Musical!," a parody of the 2011 Broadway "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," and the sensationalism surrounding the show's creation, from August 22-23rd.'

The Lincoln-based theatre company's Facebook event page explains that they're re-imagining the "parody of the true story," while they "affectionately poke fun at The Great White Way" featuring their "own whimsical mythology to the Spider-Man franchise."

The Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre also writes on Facebook that they gained inspiration from play-within-play shows such as "The Producers" and "The Phantom of the Opera." "Spider-Man: The Musical...The Musical!" featured "exaggerated versions of the artists involved (Julie Taymor, Bono, The Edge, and more!) as they struggle to pull together a monumental production, only to discover that there is much more underneath the surface--like, a horrific monster under the floorboards."

Since 2009, The Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre have been presenting free productions of "musical adaptations of things that clearly have no business being musicalized" in downtown Lincoln, NE, they explain on their Kickstarter page. In five years, they have taken "Jurassic Park," "Dr. Quinn," "The X-Files" and more to the stage.
