Photo Flash: Meet the Lovely Ladies of CALENDAR GIRLS at Omaha Community Playhouse
CALENDAR GIRLS, running April 15 - May 8, 2016, directed by Susan Baer Collins, in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre at the Omaha Community Playhouse, is a bare-all play featuring sisterhood and side-splitting laughs. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the cast in costume below!
After Anne's husband dies of leukemia, she vows to keep his memory alive through a memorial. She and her friends "of a certain age" drop their trousers and discover their courage as they pose for a nude (but tasteful) calendar to raise funds. As the women experience newfound stardom due to their increasingly popular calendar, their bonds of friendship are tested. Based on a true story and adapted from the film of the same name, CALENDAR GIRLS is the complete entertainment package. Note: Contains partial nudity.
CALENDAR GIRLS is written by Tim Firth, who was also the screenwriter of the 2003 hit movie of the same name starring Helen Mirren. The stage adaptation premiered in 2009 in London's West End and closed in 2010 before embarking on two national tours in the UK. The story was also recently turned into a stage musical called The Girls and was also written by Firth and Gary Barlow, one of the UK's most successful singer-songwriters. Barlow also wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway smash Finding Neverland.
The cast features: Debbie Cline - Cora; Quentin Day - Rod; Karrin Dignoti - Celia; Julie Huff - Ruth; Kim Jubenville - Chris; Stacie Lamb - Marie; Alyson Maloney - Elaine; Michael Markey - John; Sue Mouttet - Jessie; Ruth Rath - Brenda Hulse and Lady Cravenshire; Chris Shonka - Lawrence and Liam; and Kathy Wheeldon - Annie.
The production runs April 15 - May 8, 2016. Show times are Wednesdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are at the OCP Box Office, by calling (402) 553-0800 or online at www.OmahaPlayhouse.org or www.TicketOmaha.com. Single tickets are $36 for adults and $22 for students. Tickets for groups of 12 or more are $24 for adults and $16 for students.
