Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre Presents THE 39 STEPS 4/23-5/2

By:

Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (CityRep) presents the Tony, Drama Desk, and Olivier Award-winning comedy, THE 39 STEPS. THE 39 STEPS just recently ended its Broadway run on January 10, 2010, making it the longest-running Broadway play in seven years.

In THE 39 STEPS, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have THE 39 STEPS, a fast-paced whodunit packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 4), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good, old-fashioned romance!

Featured in the CityRep production is Jonathan Beck Reed, playing the lead role of Richard Hannay. Mr. Reed, a founding member of CityRep, is best known to CityRep audiences for his appearances in both incarnations of A TUNA CHRISTMAS; as well as I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE; LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR; LITTLE ME; THE BIG BANG; and MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS. Rounding out the cast and playing the other 149 roles are Lexi Windsor (CityRep appearances in LITTLE ME, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, and MESHUGGAH NUNS), Matthew Alvin Brown (making his CityRep debut), and Steve Emerson (CityRep appearances in A CHRISTMAS CAROL and THE FANTASTICKS).

Guest Artist Shawn Churchman, who directed the CityRep productions of LITTLE ME and THE BIG BANG, will direct THE 39 STEPS. He most recently appeared in the CityRep production of THE SANTALAND DIARIES. Scenic Design is by Donald Jordan and James Wolk, Costume Design by Lou Bird, Costume Coordination by Aaron Patrick Turner, Sound Design by Mic Pool, and Properties by Emily Frei and Josh Cain

THE 39 STEPS will play in the Freede Little Theatre at the Civic Center Music Hall at 201 N. Walker in downtown Oklahoma City.
