Last year, under the direction of Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's Artistic Director Michael Baron, Lyric began a new holiday tradition with the premiere of LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Featuring dazzling special effects including snow and flying ghosts, Baron's original adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel premiered to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The production will return to Lyric's Plaza Theatre tonight, November 30 and runs through December 29.

"When LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL premiered last year, it was so wonderful to see families, couples and friends flocking to the Plaza District to see the show-there was magic in the air," said Baron. "As we begin the second run, we anticipate that patrons will continue to make LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL part of their holiday tradition and more will discover it for the first time."

Adding to the excitement is the return of last year's adult cast including Jonathan Beck Reed as Scrooge, Tom Huston Orr as Bob Cratchit, Matthew Alvin Brown as Fred/Young Scrooge, Susan Riley as Mrs. Cratchit and more. Reed is a Lyric audience favorite and his past credits include SPRING AWAKENING, THE MUSIC MAN, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, PETER PAN and many more. This is Reed's 19th year as a Lyric performer. The production is directed by Baron and choreographed by Ashley Wells, Lyric's associate artistic director.

"LYRIC'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL takes the audience on a powerful journey and the intimacy of the Plaza Theatre allows for a mesmerizing experience," said Baron. "Reed truly embodies the character of Scrooge."

In his 2011 review of the show, The Oklahoman's John Brandenburg said, "Jonathan Beck Reed was commanding as Scrooge" and the production "is highly recommended."
