Auditions for THE SCARLET LETTER
CST will hold auditions for THE SCARLET LETTER on February 6th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Auditions will be held at the Carpenter Square Theatre office at 1015 N. Broadway, Suite 210, just south of 10th & Broadway on the West side of the street. Coffeeslingers is a business on the first floor, and CST is located on the 2nd floor. Those auditioning should proceed down the building's central hallway to the stairs at the back of the building and follow the signs to the office on the 2nd floor.

Perusal scripts are available for a $10 refundable deposit. Please call CST at (405) 232-6500 or email vicky@carpentersquare.com to make arrangements to check out a script. Please call before dropping by to make sure a script is available and someone is available to check it out to you. The CST office is closed on Mondays.

Monday, February 7 - 7 p.m. - Callbacks

Synopsis:
Sin. Obsession. Revenge. These three major ingredients fuel Nathaniel Hawthorne's famous story of Hester Prynne who is forced to wear a scarlet letter "A" after she is deemed an adulteress, gives birth and refuses to name the father of her baby girl. Keeping the original Puritan setting, the playwright gives it a unique adaptation as the story unfolds through the eyes of Hester's now grown and highly-spirited daughter Pearl. The humor and irony of the story is highlighted by the modern language.

Performance dates: April 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23.
A student matinee is scheduled at 11:00 am Friday, April 8, 2011.

Rehearsals:
1st read-thru is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 22 with blocking starting on Feb 28.
Most rehearsals will be scheduled Mon-Fri at 7 p.m. with Sunday afternoon rehearsals occasionally scheduled if needed.

Cast: 4 Men, 3 Women.

Hester Prynne (late 20s-35) A stunning young seamstress who's a master of irony. She is neither sentimental nor self-pitying. Her defiant humor sees her through most situations.

Arthur Dimmesdale (late 20s-30s) A successful young minister who finds it difficult to trust anybody. Sexy and rather capable, though he doesn't think so.

Roger Chillingworth (50s) A humpbacked, would-be physician who's slipped into an early old age. Walks with a cane. Has a dry and deadly wit.

Pearl (late 20s) Hester's daughter who is a free-spirited, unusual child. The actress plays Pearl at different ages, although there should not be any attempt to play her childishly.

Governor Bellingham (40s-60s) Boston's Governor who is well-meaning, but pompous.

Master Brackett (40s-60s) Boston's jailer. A kind man who is the slightest bit slow on the uptake.

Mistress Hibbins (30s) Roston's witch and sister to Governor Bellingham. Maddeningly sexy.
