(beyond) Doomsday Scrolling - a theatrical benefit to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees through theatre, music, and dialogue.Fundraising performance event for Ukrainian refugees to be held on Friday April 29 at 7:30pm at The Center at West Park.NEW YORK, April 29, 2022 AnomalousCo returns to The Center at West Park with a second theatrical benefit in international solidarity with Ukraine through theatrical performance, conversation, and reflection. As with their previous event, which raised nearly $8500, all proceeds will go towards refugee assistance: in Ukraine and other regions experiencing violence and displacement. Pay-what-you-can tickets are available via AnomalousCos AnomalousCo.comA work of epic theatre, (beyond) Doomsday-Scrolling is an evolving artistic response to the ever-shifting landscape of war and refugee crisis - presenting freshly devised material in each new iteration. Centering the invasion of Ukraine in the larger context of authoritarianism and human displacement around the globe, this social-justice performance has three aims: to bear witness, to raise humanitarian aid, and to stand in international solidarity with Ukraine and the worlds refugees, and against the divisions being sown among peoples. Above all, (beyond) Doomsday-Scrolling foregrounds women: the impact of the war upon their lives, and the impact of their words upon the world. The event culminates in discussion among attendees and organizers about the issues raised, and further possibilities to donate directly to a variety of relief efforts. As the global response to the war against Ukraine enters a new phase compassion fatigue , said Kathryn Mederos Syssoyeva, Co-Artistic Director of AnomalousCo, now, more than ever, the theatre must hold a space in which to bear witness, cry out, and promote compassionate humanitarian action.WHEN:Friday, April 297:30pm-9:30pm WHERE:The Center at West Park165 W 86th Street, NY, NY 10024Entrance on Amsterdam Ave. TICKETS:Pay-what-you-can.
