Cast Announced For SUMMER SHORTS 2019 At 59E59 Theaters

Casting is complete for this year's SUMMER SHORTS 2019, produced by Throughline Artists (J.J. Kandel, Producing Artistic Director) at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). SUMMER SHORTS 2019 begins on Friday, July 19 and runs through Saturday, August 31. Two series featuring three one-act plays in each will play in rotating repertory Tuesday - Friday at 7:15 PM; Saturday & Sunday at 2:15 PM and 7:15 PM. Please note, there is no matinee performance on Saturday, July 20. Individual calendar schedule of performance dates for Series A and Series B is available for viewing/download. Press Opening for Series A is Sunday, July 28 at 7:15 PM. Press Opening for Series B is Sunday, August 4 at 2:15 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Single tickets are $25 - $35 ($26 for 59E59 Members). ROMEO AND JULIET Comes To Queens For Rude Grooms' Second Annual Free Commons Series

Queens-based Rude Grooms announced today initial details for the company's second annual free summer production touring parks and art spaces in Astoria and Long Island City: William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, led by actor-manager Montgomery Sutton (Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Globe) and produced in partnership with Long Island City Artists at the Plaxall Gallery and the Astoria Park Alliance and is made possible (in part) by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. 2Cents Theatre Group Presents LEAR/LOMAN At The 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival

2Cents Theatre Group's 2019 Best of INK @Fringe production, Lear/Loman by Kate Schwartz, will play four more performances at the Broadwater Main Stage. Featuring Leon Russom as King Lear and Bruno Oliver as Willy Loman, the cast will also include (in alphabetical order) Lauran Dewey, Tim Kopacz, Heather Roberts, Sarah Schulte, and Ruben Uy. Under the direction of Scott Leggett, the remaining performances are Saturday 6/15 at 11:30am; Thursday 6/20 at 5pm; Saturday 6/22 at midnight; and Sunday 6/30 at 1:30pm. Running time is 60 minutes. American Bard Theater Company presents the New York City premiere of You Wouldn't Expect, a play written by Marilynn Barner Anselmi examining the staggering truths about the coercive influence of the government-sponsored eugenics program and its direct focus on poverty and race. Cezar Williams directs a cast of eight, including Cherie Danielle, Adiagha Faizah, Carl Fisk, Erin Gilbreth*, Ross G. Two lives steeped in sex, drugs, and grifting collide in "Pretty Babies," a new play written and directed by Antony Raymond, when two long lost siblings meet for the first time. Manipulation, abuse, and perversion cause the relationship and ones around it to quickly devolve into animalism, throwing the characters into a downward spiraling whirlwind that crashes in a fit of jealously. The Kraine Theater

Set on a remote island, the sorceress Prospero, rightful ruler of Milan, plots to restore herself and her daughter Miranda to their rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation. She conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to cause her usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to believe they are shipwrecked and marooned on the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and all sorts of other magical mischief.

This show stars Bob Rutan, Chris Weigandt, Matthew Preston, Katherine Yacko, Ryan Molloy, Bryan Songy, Leah Schwartz, Frankie Johnson, Sydney Mattie, Wendy Watt, Giordano Cruz, and Genny Yosco.
