Dubbed the "female" Beethoven, Emilie Mayer was a talented composer whose works were performed often in her lifetime but fell into obscurity after her death. This concert features two of Ms. Mayer's best orchestral works, her towering Faust Overture which ranks among the works of Berlioz, Liszt, and Wagner along with the New York premiere of her Fifth (Seventh) Symphony in F Minor which hints at the influence of Mendelssohn and Schumann. Three winners of the 2019 Young Artist Competition will also perform as soloists with the orchestra.Forgoing traditional printed program notes, Ensemble 212 also features unique live program notes projected on a screen during the performance, serving as a visual listening guide for the audience. This spectacular concert will thrill audiences with dazzling young soloists and the rediscovery of an important long-forgotten female composer!PROGRAMEmilie MAYERFaust Overture, Op. 46 (12')Carl REINECKEFlute Concerto in D Major, Op. 283 2nd Movement (6')featuring Semin Kang, Flute Honorable Mention, 2019 Young Artist CompetitionLudwig van BEETHOVENRomance No. 2 in F Major for Violin & Orchestra, Op. 50 (10')featuring Clara Neubauer, Violin 2nd Prize Winner of the 2019 Young Artist CompetitionPyotr Ilyich TCHAIKOVSKYViolin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 3rd Movement (10')featuring Serin Park, Violin Grand Prize Winner of the 2019 Young Artist Competition*** INTERMISSION ***Emilie MAYERSymphony No. 5 in F Minor (35')New York PremiereYoon Jae Lee, ConductorAdvance tickets on BPT (link above) until 6/15 3 PM:$20 General, $18 Seniors 65+, $15 Students with IDAfter that time, tickets at the doors which open at 7:30 will be cash only.$25 General, $20 Seniors 65+, $18 Students with IDChildren 12 and under FREE, no ticket required.Doors will open at 7:30 on the day of the concert.
