Fruit Fly Theatre Company premiers a new bilingual translation of Federico Garcia Lorca's final play, La Casa de Bernarda Alba, on March 28th at The Producers Club in Midtown. Directed by Milargos Luis! Tickets are available for a 2 pm matinee and 7 pm evening performance.

Bernarda Alba is a 60 year old woman, who after the death of her second husband, has decided to establish an obligatory mourning period amongst her 5 daughters. However, at the news of the eldest's engagement, desires and betrayals unleash a series of events where loyalties will be tested. Can the matriarch keep order in her house, or are her daughters carrying more behind their backs than she thinks?

This play explores themes that reflect our current-day issues, such as repression, conformity, and tyranny. Brought to life by an international cast and creative team from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and other latin entities. This show not only reflects women's role in society but also serves as a form of raising Hispanic and Latin voices.

Fruit Fly is a company composed of an all-queer trio from Mexico, Venezuela, and Australia, dedicated to creating opportunities for immigrants in an industry where access is becoming increasingly difficult. Our goal is to create boundary-pushing works that confront modern struggles through community-driven storytelling.
