The PlayGround Experiment Will Host Inaugural P-G-EXPLORATIONS Festival of New Plays
The festival features 13 new works at Marjorie Deane Little Theatre by playwrights including Erin Moughon and Kendra Augustin
To celebrate the 11th anniversary of the PlayGround Experiment's groundbreaking new play development series, the company has announced its first ever P-G-Explorations Festival. This three week series of fundraising galas will feature staged readings, performances, and community discussions of thirteen original plays and musicals that were all developed through the PlayGround Experiment's flagship bi-monthly' Volumes' series. Beginning April 22nd and lasting until May 10th, this exciting festival invites New York audiences to the Marjorie Deane Little Theatre on West 64th Street to take part in the development of new plays and celebrate the work that the PGE has fostered.
The festival features new works by longtime PGE members Erin Moughon, David Ceci, Denisse Estefany Mendoza Valdez, Orlando Rodriguez, Adam Parrish, Kendra Augustin, Kit Goldstein Grant, Lucas Hal-Jones, Marina Barry, Odd Johnson, Jacob Marx Rice, Evan Edwards, David Davila, and PGE Artistic Director Mike Lesser. The plays will be performed by the PGE's roster of talented actors and collaborators, and each staged reading will be followed by a community talk-back with the playwright.
Founded by Mike Lesser in 2015, the PlayGround Experiment is a home for theatre artists to explore, test, and develop new work while finding inspiration and support from the community that it creates.
