Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Executive Director) proudly presents BEFORE GOD WAS INVENTED, written Lissa Moira from March 17th thru April 3rd.

Lissa Moira also directs this original classical play, with music composed by Richard West. Added music is by Louisa Bradshaw, choreography by Donald Garverick & fight choreography by Jiggers Turner. Musical Direction is by Chris Wade.

BEFORE GOD WAS INVENTED is a prehistoric pagan parable with music & dance, which explores the origin of patriarchal monotheistic religious fanaticism, war, intolerance, greed & the divine right of kings. It's a cross between Xena, Warrior Princess & Euripides.

Featured in the cast are Chelsey Cline, Tjasa Ferme, Andrew Greer, Nora Munde Gustuson, George Isaacs, David "Zen" Mansley, Leanne Mercadante, Vicki Oceguera, Brik Olson, Ashley Rutherford & Dan Vidor. Set & Costume Design are by David "Zen" Mansley. Lighting Design is by William Giraldo, masks & animals are by Lytza Colon.

Lissa Moira (Writer/Director) is a well-known playwright & the co-writer of Dead Canaries, a feature film starring Charles Durning, Dan Luria, Dee Wallace-Stone & Joel Higgins. She is a Susan Smith Blackburn Nominee, OOBR Award Winner & a 2-time Jerome Foundation Grantee. Look for Lissa & Richard West's Dada noir musical comedy, Who Murdered Love? Off-Broadway later this year.
