The Theatre Project Presents BARBICIDE Tonight, 6/20
Barbicide is described as "a tasty noirish revenge play of interwoven monologues, underscoring the consequences of coincidence and fate. Imagine if Jack Kerouac, Jim Thompson & Mario Puzo were to pen a mind-blowing riff of Sweeney Todd, seen through the eyes of a dysfunctional barbershop-quartet."
Performing to sold out audiences since May, the site-specific production is staged at a vintage New York City barbershop. Barbicide tells the story of a barber in 1960s Queens who has just been released from prison after being framed by a local mob boss. Upcoming performances are set for June 6th and 20th at Moustache Tonsorial, located at 55 Greenwich Avenue between Charles and Perry Street.
The Theatre Project’s new production of Barbicide, written by Sean Pomposello and Directed by Christian Amato, continues with bi-monthly productions at the West Village's Moustache Greenwich Tonsorial. Barbicide is a delicious mélange of beat poetry and hard boiled patois, with just a dash of Mafioso mythology. It’s a whole new twist on Fleet Street.
