The Stella Adler Studio's Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company has announced the world premiere of The Empty Ocean, a brand new original play by Anton Dudley, on June 14. Dudley has been acknowledged as an important emerging author by some of the most prestigious dramatic writing programs including Manhattan Theatre Club, New York Theatre Workshop, The Eugene O'Neill Musical Theatre Conference, The Lark Play Development Center, and MCC Theater/Playwrights' Coalition.

Dudley is the fourth annual participant in the studio's Playwright-in-Residence program. This is a collaborative residency that is mutually beneficial to the mission of Stella Adler Studio and the playwright. The Studio's Artistic Director Tom Oppenheim created the program in order to support emerging writers by giving them the opportunity to develop their most recent work into a full production with an ensemble cast.

The Empty Ocean is set thirty years in the future, after the predicted collapse of fisheries worldwide, and explores how the extinction of fish species affects one family's life, love and sustainability. Directed by Stephen Brackett, the cast features a prestigious cast of Broadway performers including Sarah Nina Hayon, Polly Lee, Michael Milligan (Broadway: Jerusalem, La Bette, August: Osage County), Steve Payne (Broadway: August: Osage County), Gerry Rodriguez and Jack Romano.

The Empty Ocean will play June 14th-30th at 7:30pm at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, located at 31 West 27th, Floor 3, New York, NY.
