Stable Cable Lab Co. Launches 2017 Reading Series with HOME CHURCH PLAY Tonight

Stable Cable Lab Co. has announced its 2017 season, which will launch tonight with its annual reading series of new plays in process. This free reading series will feature three plays in development including HOME CHURCH PLAY by Jacob Perkins tonight, February 17th, DOLLFACE by Emily Daly on February 20th, and LITTLEGHOST by Liza Birkenmeier on February 27th.

Readings will take place at 7:30pm at South Oxford Space (138 S Oxford St, Brooklyn, NY) on February 17th and 20th, and at Simple Studios (134 W. 29th St, 2nd Floor, NYC) on February 27th. To make a reservation, email StableCableLabCo@gmail.com.

Next, IRT Theater will present Stable Cable Lab Co.'s production of THE CONSPIRACISTS, a new play written and directed by Max Baker. The cast will feature Lisa Jill Anderson, Sofiya Cheyenne, Alice Johnson, Arthur Kriklivy, Ricki Lynée, and Ian Poake. Performances will take place from April 22nd through May 7th at IRT Theater (154 Christopher St, 3rd Floor, NYC). Tickets will go on sale in March.

Also this season, Stable Cable is thrilled to welcome Margaret Santa Maria to the company in the role of Producing Director. Margaret Santa Maria is a dramaturg and creative producer specializing in new play development. In her 16 years in professional theater, she has had the privilege of working along side some of the best playwrights and directors in the field, such as David Lindsay-Abaire, Claudia Shear, Neil LaBute, Michael Greif, Darko Tresnjak and Rachel Chavkin. Currently employed by the Shubert Organization, she has previously worked at the Williamstown Theater Festival, New York Stage & Film and Atlantic Theater Company. Before becoming a producer she worked in casting, first for Telsey & Co, where she cast the Broadway shows Steel Magnolias, Match, and Never Gonna Dance, and then for Julie Tucker Casting, where she cast TV shows and pilots, most notably two seasons of Rescue Me. She has worked as a freelance dramaturg and script consultant for numerous playwrights, theaters and foundations. She has an MFA in Dramaturgy from Columbia University.

Stable Cable Lab Co. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to create an environment for new work and theater artists to flourish. We do this through developmental readings and workshops, ensemble laboratories and productions. We are dedicated to producing new plays that are ensemble-driven and bold. Productions include: the world premiere of In the Event of My Death by Lindsay Joy, directed by Padraic Lillis at IRT Theater in 2016; the workshop production of Terminalia by Collin McConnell, directed by J.K. Musser at IRT Theater in 2016; the production of the new play Because Me written & directed by Max Baker at the Wild Project in 2015; the production of the new play Live from the Surface of the Moon written & directed by Max Baker (recipient of an LMCC MCAF grant) at the Wild Project in 2015; the workshop production of #WHATIWASWEARING (in collaboration with Arethusa Speaks) at the Wild Project in 2015; the workshop production of Accidents Waiting to Happen by Jonathan Libman, directed by Padraic Lillis at IRT Theater in 2014; the workshop production of Nibbler by Ken Urban, directed by Stephen Brackett at Theatre54 in 2013; the workshop production of the devised piece i love you more than all the stars in the sky with text by Emily Daly (featured in foolsFURY's Factory Parts in San Francisco) in 2013; the devised piece The Eden Project directed by Seth Hamlin, choreographed by KC Luce (world premiere as part of the Dream Up Festival at Theater for the New City and workshop production at The Bridge Theater) in 2012; the world premiere of Barter (Or, Stealing Other People's Credit Cards) by Emily Daly, directed by Jonathan Libman (Washington DC Capital Fringe) in 2012; and the annual LiveWire Short Play Festival in 2014, 2015, and 2016 featuring works by playwrights including Halley Feiffer, Christopher Gabriel Nuñez, Nat Cassidy, Breanna Foister, Emily Daly, and more.

IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRT's mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts and Mike Daisey.
