Scratch and Pitz Burlesque and Variety Hour – Cast Bios

Cyndi Freeman* / Cherry Pitz (Writer / Co-Producer / Director) is a two-time Fringenyc award winning performer and playwright. She performs burlesque as Cherry Pitz and is to co-producer of and performer with Hotsy Totsy Burlesque: New York’s only ongoing monthly burlesque soap opera - www.hotsytotsyburlesque.com. She is also co-producer of and a performer with And I Am Not Lying, which features burlesque, storytelling and comedy, and which enjoys a monthly performance at Union Hall in Brooklyn - www.andiamnotlying.com. In addition to burlesque, Ms Freeman is frequent performer of live storytelling in NYC and has performed at The Moth, Risk, Story Collider and The Liar Show and she is a member of the BTK Band as both a dancer and storyteller. A recipient of a grand prize playwriting fellowship award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (with collaborator Ellen Groves), her other credits include HBO, Comedy Central and Showtime Television. - www.Heroicsinhotpants.com

Brad Lawrence / Handsome Brad (Scratch / Writer / Co-producer / Director) is one of New York City’s rising talents in the worlds of Burlesque and live storytelling. He performs burlesque as Handsome Brad and works primarily as a host in burlesque productions throughout NYC including Original Cyn Burlesque, Hotsy Totsy Burlesque and Kitty Nights Burlesque. As a storyteller Brad is a host of The Moth StorySlams and he is the only storyteller to win back-to-back The Moth GrandSLAMS. He is a member of and featured storyteller with the BTK Band and he also is a regular at such shows as The Liar’s Show, Speakeasy Stories, Seth Lind’s Told, The Risk Podcast and How I Learned. In addition, he is co-producer of and a performer with And I Am Not Lying. Other credits include three screenplays currently in the hands of film studios. He has published short fiction in The Brooklyn Rail, UprightDown.com, and The Neshui Press, who also released his novella, Revelation Decoy, in its own volume. His solo show, Monsters In The Wood, was presented in the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival.- www.billyjoesboy.com.

Rory Scholl (Folk Musician / Game Show Announcer) is the lead guitarist in the BTK Band, New York's hardest drinking improvised storytelling band, and a teacher and touring company member with Chicago City Limits, New York's longest running improv show. He is the producer of Artprov, a show that combines art, music and comedy, which creates new musicals, scenes and works of art. He is excited to be working with this cast. He also eats almonds to lower his cholesterol.

Apathy Angel (Chastity/ Chaz Pitz) is a multifaceted artist and performer living and working in NYC. A classically trained ballerina since childhood, she furthered her artistic career at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where she earned a BFA in Media Arts & Animation. In 2005 she found herself in New York where she quickly gained a foothold in the city’s nightlife and performance culture. With her provocative and innovative take on underground entertainment, Apathy creates a stir wherever she goes. Apathy’s body of work centers predominately around blurring the ideas of gender, emotional memory, absurdity, and beauty. She is co-producer of Corruption at Tammany Hall, which is a weekly burlesque/variety show. She is also a regular dancer at Original Cyn Burlesque, The Slipper Room, The box, Webster Hall and with The BTK Band. Amelia Bareparts (Lion Tamer, Ventriloquist’s dummy) is a New York City based burlesque performer. She is a regular dancer for the BTK Band and the upcoming show, Corruption At Tammany Hall and has performed burlesque acts at various NY shows including the Pink Room Burlesque, Kitty Nights, Original Cyn Burlesque and the Coney Island Film Festival. A world traveler always ready for adventure, she has danced flamenco with gypsies in the streets of Spain, and gyrated to voodoo drums in the jungle in Haiti. She has studied at the Circus Sideshow School at Coney Island USA and The NY School of Burlesque.

Peter Aguero (Ventriloquist / Hollywood Producer) was born and raised in the wilds of South Jersey. He is a Moth GrandSlam champion, host of Moth StorySlams, and an instructor for the MothShop Community Program. He is the lead singer of The BTK Band, NYC's hardest-drinking improvised storytelling rockband, and also the host curator and producer of Bare, which combines heart-wrenching stories with burlesque. A frequent performer at live storytelling shows throughout NYC, Peter has been seen with The Liar Show, Super Stories and tales of the Cosmos with Adam Wade and Seth Lind’s Told. Peter loves his Mom.

Lucille ti Amore (Lioness) received her training at New York University, where she studied physical theatre. She performs in venues all around the city but can be seen most frequently at The Slipper Room in Exile and Webster Hall. She was recently given the opportunity to choreograph a group burlesque number for Webster Hall's grand ballroom on New Year's Eve. Lucille's acts have a dark, yet whimsical quality to them.
