Red Door Theatre Company Presents IN TROUSERS, 3/25-28

By:

The Red Door Theatre Company will present William Finn's rarely done, conceptual musical IN TROUSERS, the first of the "Marvin" musicals. Performances will be 3/25-28 at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre in Greenwich Village.  Samantha Saltzman directs.

IN TROUSERS follows Marvin's journey in both the present and the past, to discover who he was meant to be. He turns to the women who have become important to him throughout his life to help him balance his natural inclination towards bi-sexuality and his inherent need to protect his family and establish a sense of normalcy.  Finn's book, lyrics and music make this a touching story, familiar to all audience members, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

Tony Award winner William Finn is best known for his Falsetto trilogy, which includes IN TROUSERS, March of the Falsettos & Falsettoland (the latter two became a full-length Broadway musical called Falsettos). Other shows in the Finn catalog include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A New Brain, Elegies, and the Broadway-bound Little Miss Sunshine.

Samantha Saltzman's New York directing credits include: No Moves Back, No More Waiting and Line. Directing credits include: Kol Nidre, Bed and Breakfast, and Icee (Hangar Theatre); Bernard Goes to Surgery; The Music Man.  Assistant directing credits include: Titanic Benefit Concert (NYSEC), Hair, Girl's School Gothic, Arkansaw Bear, The Ant The Grasshopper (Hangar Theatre). Production credits: Rock of Ages, Starquest International Dance Competition, The Cure, The Story
(Playhouse on the Square); The 24-Hour Musical.

The Red Door Theatre Company is dedicated to producing socially relevant theatrical pieces and to offer a safe haven for controversial or delicate subject matter to be explored on stage, also to provide a risk-free environment for artists to create without negative influence. Previous productions include Proof, Danny & the Deep Blue Sea, Dog Sees God, and Macbeth. www.thereddoortheatre.com
