Noel Williams Brings 'Party of One' To New York Clown Festival

Clown artist Noel Williams brings her award winning solo Pochinko Clown and Bouffon show Party of One to the third annual 2008 New York Clown Festival at The Brick theatre in Williamsburg on September 19th at 7pm, Sept. 20th at 9:30pm, and Sept. 21st at 3:30pm. The World Premiere of Party of One  took place at the 2007 Winnipeg Fringe Festival and kicked off a four festival international tour for solo Clown artist Noel Williams. This divine ride through Clown and Bouffon features a feisty turnstile, dinner dates with luggage, and a two and a half foot mini version of "Gone with the Wind". Hailed by Morley Walker of the Winnipeg Free Press as "charmingly crazy," Party of One  received four stars from the Winnipeg Free Press. Melissa Martin of the CBC also awarded Party of One four stars saying Williams "channels comedy and heartbreak with effortless flair." In it's United States debut at the 2007 Minnesota Fringe Festival, Star Tribune writer Rohan Preston applauded Party of One  as "fearless and fun," making the Star Tribune's Critics Pick list. Williams went on from there to perform at the 2007 Indianapolis Fringe Festival, where NUVO newspaper awarded Party of  One with four and half stars calling it "imaginative,unique, and incredibly funny." Noel Williams wrapped up her tour at the 2007 San Francisco Fringe Festival  with not only five star audience reviews but was also awarded "Best Clown Show" and "Best Postcard Design" by the 2007 San Francisco Fringe Festival.

Since fringing, "Party of One" has been a part of  2008 Rogue Theatre Festival in Fresno,CA,  and will be part of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Fall Theatre Season in November at the Chicago Cultural Center's Studio Theatre. Williams has been performing segments of the show since March 2008 at the Chicago Beast Women Festival, which is a cabaret style showcase for top female performers, at the Prop Theatre in Chicago.

Noel Williams and Sue Morrison, creators of the Orlando Fringe award winning, Does this Mean Anything to You? and BlahBlahBlah: A Two Person Clown Show have given their third creation together a whole new
twist.  Director Sue Morrison has taught, directed and collaborated on Clown and Bouffon across the globe for more than 20 years.  Her students are currently featured in Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group, and Second City.  She has directed and co-created the world-renowned clown productions Absence of Magic and Burnt Tongue, which aired on BRAVO Arts Channel.  Morrison's unique and powerful work brings together the diverse elements of Native American and European Clowning, Bouffon, Le Jeu and Improvisation, creating dynamic performance spectacles.  This co-creation with performer Noel Williams brings together Clown and Bouffon for the first time in a unique andentertaining production.

Performer Noel Williams has created and performed in six other original productions using Clown and Commedia dell'Arte techniques. Commedia show Hfob-n-Ffos made the Winnipeg Sun's Best in Fringe List 2000. Commedia show Hfobble  was highlighted on Chicago's Artbeat, and original clown/circus production Circus Crashers  was Highly Recommended by the Chicago Reader. Williams is a Virginia Tech, Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre, and Second City Conservatory alumna.
