IT Awards Nominations to be Announced July 16

The IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, will be announcing the 2007 nominees on Monday July 16th, 2007.

Last year, the event was a sold-out affair.  This year, it will take place at Our Lady of Pompeii located at 25 Carmine Street (corner of Bleecker Street). "Festivities commence at 7pm with cocktails and music. The official Nominee Announcement will take place at 8pm. Attendees are encouraged to come early, get a drink and rub elbows with some of the most talented, innovative, and exciting theatre artists in New York City," state press notes.

The event is sponsored by Back Stage and United Stages.

The 3rd Annual IT Awards Ceremony will take place on September 24th, 2007.  Nominations will be announced for the following individual awards:

Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role
Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role
Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role
Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role
Outstanding Solo Performance
Outstanding Director
Outstanding Sound Design
Outstanding Lighting Design
Outstanding Set Design
Outstanding Costume Design
Outstanding Original Music
Outstanding Original Full-length Script
Outstanding Original Short Script
Outstanding Choreography/Movement

Nominations will also be announced for:

Outstanding Ensemble
Outstanding Production of a Play
Outstanding Production of a Musical
Outstanding Performance Art Production

The New York Innovative Theatre Awards were founded to specifically honor Off-Off Broadway. Eligibility requirements for the IT Awards include: a total production budget that must be less than $40,000 (between $0 and $40,000), a ticket price that must be $30 or less (between "Free" and $30), performances that are in Brooklyn, Manhattan or Queens, and producers that are based within the five boroughs of New York City.
