Emerging Artists Theater to Take Kathleen Warnock's OUTLOOK to the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival May 14-20

By:

Emerging Artists Theater will make its third trip to the International Dublin Gay Theatre FestiVal May 14-20 with the world premiere of Kathleen Warnock's "Outlook," directed by Mark Finley ("Penny Penniworth" Off-Broadway, "The Secretaries," NY Fringe).

Now in its 9th year, the IDGTF presents work by and about LGBT theater artists the first two weeks of May. In addition to "Outlook," Finley is also directing Michael Lynch's "Living on the Real" for TOSOS in the festival's second week. And EAT member Andrea Alton is taking her NY Fringe hit, "The F*cking World According to Molly," the first week of the festival.

Developed in the TOSOS Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project and EAT's Playwrights Circle and "First Taste" series, "Outlook" features a cast of Meghan Cary (also a singer/songwriter who released her 4th album, "Building this House" in March), Donnetta Lavinia Grays (Broadway: "Well"; film: "The Wrestler"; TV: "Mercy."); Irene Longshore ("Lush Valley," HERE) and Danielle Quisenberry ("Mad Hot Ballroom," Alphabet City @ Metropolitan Playhouse). The Production Stage Manager is Jennifer M. Russo.

"Outlook" poses the theatrical question: what if there were really such a thing as a magic wand? Susan Kelly (Meghan Cary) finds out when the mysterious Brown of UPS (Donnetta Lavinia Grays) delivers one, and sticks around to watch what happens. Susan's got a comfortable life with a not-quite-live-in girlfriend, Patience (Danielle Quisenberry), and a daughter, Ella (Irene Longshore) almost out of college. But times are hard, and the future looks dark; is anyone entitled to joy when they might not have a job, a partner, or even a roof over their heads at any time?

Kathleen Warnock's plays have been seen in New York, London, Dublin, and regionally. "Rock the Line" (EAT, NY) won the Robert Chesley Award for Emerging Playwright. "Grieving for Genevieve" (MITF) won the John Golden Award for Playwriting. She is also the host of the reading series Drunken! Careening! Writers! (KGB Bar, third Thursdays), and editor of the Best Lesbian Erotica series (Cleis). She is a member of Emerging Artists Theatre and the Dramatists Guild.
