Dialogue with Three Chords to Present SHIPYARD Finale, 5/22

By:

"'Here There Be Swans & Serpents & Holy Misery' & here there be fawns & dissent & drunken poetry," begins the introduction to the final installment of "Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose," a full-length play presented in installments by Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) which began last August.

We revisit characters introduced in previous D3C shows, but the performances also function as stand-alone pieces. Written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto, the serialized works are presented as part of their residency at Mr. Dennehy's on 63 Carmine Street in Greenwich Village.

The show includes a live musical performance by Brooklyn-based artist Tommy Lombordozzi and begins at 8pm on Thursday, May 22. Admission is free, with a $3 suggested donation.

Over the course of two seasons, "Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose" has introduced us to recurring characters whose stories intertwine but span different decades, from a bar called 'The Wild Hunt' in prohibition-era Brooklyn, to San Francisco in the 1970's and who crossed paths with Saint Patrick, Finn McCool, the inventor of solid rocket fuel, and a son of Cain. Most of the cast members from throughout the season return for the final performances that complete the year-long narrative.

"Volume Seven of 'Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose' concludes our year-long narrative with a sentence, a séance, and a snake eating its own tail," explains Gracia, "there will be raised glasses, boxes of ashes, and songs for all who survived. Come for a drink, a laugh, and maybe a bit of a cry."

More information on Dialogue with Three Chords can be found at: www.dthreec.org.

Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose Volume Seven features the acting talents of: Lisa Jill Anderson, Jessica Bathurst, John Gazzale, Larry Greenbush, John Harlacher, Kendra Leigh Landon, Anthony Marino, Sean Mellott, Ian Patrick Poake, Gil Ron, Katherine Leigh Thomas, and Steven R. Weinblatt,

Dialogue with Three Chords was founded in 2011 by Stephen Gracia and Michael LoPorto and applies the do-it-yourself philosophy of punk to the stage and features short plays and live music. Their work has also been produced at HERE Arts Center, The SOHO Gallery of Digital Art, Dixon Place, Sargent Theatre, Makor Theater, DUMBO Theatre Exchange, Levenson Hall at Brooklyn College, and the Theaters at 45 Bleecker.
