This summer, Big Apple Baroque is mounting a fully staged, magnificently crafted production of Henry Purcell's The Fairy Queen. Performances will take place June 14th, 16th, and 17th at the Kaye Playhouse, Hunter College. In order to make this as splendid a production as Purcell so richly deserves, BAB is reaching out for the first time in its history to solicit donations and is holding a special fundraising Gala Preview on Friday, April 1st at 7pm.

Since 2002, BAB has presented high quality performances of Baroque and Early Classical repertoire, fostering local Early Music talent in New York and giving back to the community by supporting projects to help the homeless in the city. Musicians featured in its performances continue to win posts in major ensembles, teach and study in world-class conservatory programs, and garner critical acclaim in many other musical capacities both in the US and abroad. BAB's forthcoming production of this major opera is testimony to the fact that New York has all the talent, imagination and energy to tackle a work usually only presented by foreign touring companies. Its adaptation is
generating interest well beyond New York and in response it is hosting an academic conference alongside the opera that will garner further publicity for Big Apple Baroque's work. Please visit their website for further details.

Ways in which you can play a vital role in producing the best possible version of The Fairy Queen:

• Support BAB's Gala Preview of The Fairy Queen, April 1st at 7pm in the elegantly restored ballroom of The Czech Center: a pre-dinner, early evening event combining details of the adaptation, a preview and a short auction of tours, house concerts and other goodies. Big Apple Baroque's celebrated canapés will be served with wine throughout the evening. The Preview will highlight some of the dazzlingly innovative set of dances created for the show by choreographer Dušan Týnek. Hailed by The New York Times as one of New York's most promising young choreographers, Dušan Týnek is known for his striking blend of theatricality, musicality, and humanism in formally structured contemporary dance. To reserve Gala tickets, email info@bigapplebaroque.org or call 1-646-770-1685. For larger parties and corporations, tables can be reserved.

• If you are unable to attend and would like to make a contribution, please email info@bigapplebaroque.org, visit www.bigapplebaroque.org or call 1-646-770-1685. BAB is fiscally sponsored by The Field. Any donations are taxdeductible to the extent allowed by law. Big Apple Baroque encourages you to support their efforts to make this glorious opera more accessible, thereby enriching the lives of New Yorkers whether they are Early Music enthusiasts, opera buffs, modern dance addicts and/ or those wholly new to the world of Henry Purcell.
