Review: CHASING THE RIVER Opens at Chain Theatre

The off-broadway production of Jean Dobie Giebel's Chasing The River recently opened at the Chain Theatre in New York City, bringing with it a robust mix of emotions. Christina Elise Perry stars as Kat, a woman who returns to her childhood home to face ghosts of her family's past. Kat's had a tough life, living with a father who was a drunk and an absent mother who eventually fled with Kat's sister, Beth (Caroline Orlando). Kat was left alone with her father, Nathaniel (David Wenzel) where her home situation went from bad to worse. And when the unthinkable happened, Kat was put in an unthinkable position at a young age, complicating her life forever.

The story weaves from the past to present, providing a well-rounded perspective on this family and the trauma that occurred. And with every twist and turn, the audience is able to see the complicated bond between sisters and the hope for self love.

With a production of strong and talented actors that seamlessly take on an intense subject matter, Chasing The River will surely impress.

Chasing The River is currently running from now until February 29th at the Chain Theatre.
